I have watched Ensminger before. He will not have the Offense figured out by the third game of the season, especially against AUs D.

That's a Gus trait too. He's been at AU for 5 yrs and it still takes him at least 3 games to figure out what he has on offense every year.

AU wins this game, the atmosphere in JHS will be too much for LSU to overcome.

Gus doesn’t seem to ever lose back to back to SEC teams other than Bama and UGA but trends can disappear in an instant.

He's lost b2b games against Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and State in his 5 years as head coach. There are 7 teams Auburn plays every year. So he's lost b2b games to almost half of those teams. And he has a losing record to LSU.

Not saying that has any effect on who wins next year's game, but I wouldn't call Gus not losing b2b games against the same team a trend.

LSU is in the same situation that AU was in last year by the third game of the season. Lindsey really didn't know what he had or how to use it. This years Offense should be more consistent and get off to an early start. This is Gus first time having a proven passing QB returning. I saw the situation Ensminger was in at AU in 2003. By midseason he had them playing well, but they started poorly.

Thoughts?

Malzahn has retard moments. There's no predicting them, but they do happen more often than they should.

With that said, in a normal game, Auburn wins fairly easily. LSU starts with a tough matchup against Miami and could open the season with a loss. That puts a lot of pressure on them winning the Auburn game or else they'll be staring at a very difficult season with a tremendous amount of pressure from fans to fire Orgeron.

Considering Auburn had full control of the game last year until Gus went full retard, I think Auburn matches up well with LSU and gets them at home.

I'd say a 14 point victory should be expected.

In a five year period? Ok...
Gus’s record to LSU is immaterial to the subject unless you can show me where he has a losing streak against the fighting ogres.

Given that Washington, @UGA, and @Bama is on the schedule, if we are losing to LSU at home, this season could end up being extremely disappointing.

Must-win could very well be the case.

Agreed. Auburn does not have a forgiving schedule. Getting what should be the two best teams in the SEC on the road and an early season match up with what should be a decent Washington program does not leave a lot of room for error.

A very good Auburn team could wind up with three losses this year and still have top ten talent.

I think the schedule sets up well for AU this year. Three out of their first 4 SEC Games are against teams with a new HC, and the fourth being against a team with a new OC. People do not realize how hard it is for a Coach to get his system in play by the first half of the season. The only issue I have with their schedule is the two best teams on it are after facing a rough SEC Schedule. Injuries will be the biggest factor again in the SEC.

Auburn's season will come down to the defense. Stidham will do enough each weekend to give chance to win, regardless of the RB situation.
If the defense is stingy enough, AU will win quite a few games,if their defense is porous, it could be a long year.

Very.

LSU is in bad shape with the QB position.

Ensminger is probably the worst OC in the Conf..

Hopefully it will be a night game.

The one and only thing that concerns me is Gus may do Gus things.

LSU is replacing:

Danny Etling
Derius Guice
Darrell Williams
DJ Chark
Russell Gage Jr

But they'll be awesome by week 3. Noted.

AUs D will be Top 3 in the SEC, why would anyone think they will be porous?
