Pretty common.
It might be common, but it still doesn't mean I agree with it. Get to one and win it, sure. Not for a loss though.

Meh, that's more for down the road where you can show your kids and grandkids. It's basically a participation trophy. Like has been said already.......all of the schools, who can afford it, give out bowl rings.

I believe that's the first ring I've ever seen then made for losing a game.

Wonder how many will end up in the possession of Awbun weed dealers.

Rings are now participation trophies.
Exactly.

Next time I suggest about 30 seconds of research before your attempted "Bashing"
EL OH EL at the deflections in this thread and at anyone pretending Bama's 2008 season was in any way similar to Auburn's 2016 season and subsequent participation trophies.
Bama won the West in 2008, went undefeated in the regular season, and finished 12-2, with the only two losses coming against the teams that finished #1 & #2 in the final poll. You'll notice on the side of those gay arse Sugar Bowl rings of Bama's one of the sides says "SEC West Champions."

Giving rings for anything other than winning the conference or the national championship is utterly ridiculous. It deludes the reward of getting a ring

I agree. Still happens everywhere.

If you look at the ring, it clearly says "Sugar Bowl" on it. You lost to Utah. It was a "participation" ring. Absolutely no difference in Auburn's/bama's Sugar Bowl ring.

I completely agree. But there are definitely varying levels of ridiculous.

Yep. A silly arse participation trophy. But I can't help you if you don't see the varying degrees of pathetic. You can clearly see it, but don't want to admit it. Which is fine.

I will bet my last dollar that there are bama players in possession of Peach Bowl rings. AGAIN, major colleges give out bowl rings to their players.....it doesn't matter what bowl it is. They always have.

Not really. The Sugar Bowl is still the Sugar Bowl regardless of how you got there.
I look at the bowl game rings as tokens of institutional gratitude given back to the players for their hard work regardless of if championships were achieved or not.
