We fired Al Borges to hire Tony Franklin. Let that sink in.

Exactly, and that was the undoing of Tubberville. But it wasn't the hiring and firing, it was his decision to make a change all while not relinquishing control. Lukewarm will frick you up every time.

Tony Franklin wouldn't have actually been that bad of a hire if would have been allowed to actually, you know, do his job.

And a head coach lost his head over that move.

Borges couldn't recruit worth a shite. He didn't get that fat by being energetic on the trail.

I like him in this role. Plus I assume his wife is still hot.

He's a really nice guy and has a good understanding of the west coast offense. Borges used the TE and FB extensively.

I like the hire. Having a more mature coach around will help Lindsey. Al never recruited much so being an analyst is probably the sweet spot for him.

Borges was the only one that seemingly figured out how to keep Ronnie Brown and Cadillac on the field at the same time. Looks like Kerryon and Kamryn formations ahead woot!

If the 10th assistant coach rule gets passed this month, he may actually end up as an on-field coach. Interesting hire...

Al Borges is returning to Auburn. @CoachGusMalzahn told me today that Borges will work under Chip Lindsey as an offensive analyst.

Never did he imagine wanting to live in Alabama, but after four years at Auburn, he'd jump at the chance to live in the state again, he said.

Can't be that smart.

Great guy and a great hire! One of my friends played and started under that OC rotation and swears he was the best!

Borges is also very, very good with QBs and their mechanics.

I think this is Gus doubling down on QB development with Lindsey's ability to coach QBs as well...and I, for one, love it. You can never have too many bright minds in one room as long as they all have one common goal.

Talk about outkicking your coverage...not quite Bert/Jennifer territory, but in the vicinity...
