According to a lot of you guys he calls plays anyway, and it appears that it's his offensive style, regardless of the OC.

Looks like Gus will drive the bus.

He may use every play in the playbook.

All 9 of them.

Lube up SEC.

Apparently the issue he is having with hiring an OC is he isn't willing to commit to giving up some control of the O. He should have simply said I'm calling plays and found a QB coach/recruiter. He really is a poor leader in many respects.

Kodi Burns.

Basically Gus will be the OC.

He will not hire an OC, the word is out in Gus.

I'm pretty sure none of them know Malzahn.

I don't think it matters at this point. Next year is a wasted year for AU. The writing is on the wall, Auburn should have just cut him loose, hired Bill Clark, and started transitioning to the future.

I don't know Saban but I know it's a good bet that Dan Enos will be the next O.C. since Locksley is going to Maryland.

See how that works?

The real issue is, Gus will likely be fired next year. There aren't many coaches who want to uproot their families for a 1 year job.

Not necessarily...if a RB's coach was offered an OC job he'd likely take it hoping to have a decent season and not be blamed for any failure...then move forward. Most coaches struggle to stay put and many will move for a single season.

However, only a coach who is desperate would take an OC title, but not be given the ability to run the O knowing they'd only be at the school 1 season.

I can't believe there isn't one high school coach that aspires to get to the colleges, even if it is a lame duck job in Auburn.

One that Gus trusts?

That’s the problem

Why bother posting at all? This is a sports forum. If you don’t want to talk about them, no one is forcing you to be here.

That is the problem. No established Coach wants to come in and we labeled for the reason for a HC being fired. It takes 5 years for a coach to get their career back on track when that happens. Look at Scott Loeffler's career after his Offense got Chizik fired. Gus could survive with the current coaching staff, even minus a coach. My guess is Gus would prefer it that way. The OC is just for show from his standpoint.

Gus just needs to recruit the correct personnel he needs to run that offense instead of jamming square pegs in round holes.
