If Malzahn gets another gig do you want him to stay on for the NC game or do you think it would be too many distractions for him?

worked out well for Pelini at LSU a few years ago....if he does accept a new gig, I do hope he stays to coach in the NC game

Chiz should promise Gus his share of the NC bonus to make sure he's on the sideline for the game.

This is a no brainer.

You serious about that, Clark?

Of course we want him to coach in the game. It wouldn't be ideal, but that would be brutal to lose your OC a couple weeks before the NC game.

Just asked because I remember rumblings about Stoops leaving OU in 2003 and staying on the sidelines. When they lost everyone griped that he was distracted with his new job.

1- I'd be offended if he didn't stay on.. but I'd be floored if he wasn't there.
2- compared to all of the distractions AU faced this year, I think Gus can handle this one.

I thought Mike Stoops didn't coach them in the bowl game. Guess I was wrong.

Pelini stayed on at LSU. Mullen stayed on at Florida. Worked out find for both of them.

I think that would be determined by his new employer. If I was an AD and had just hired a coach to run our program I would expect that coach to immediately start earning his pay and getting things in order, like assembling a staff, recruiting, etc.

Think about it for a moment. Regardless where Malzahn ends up he will be competing against Auburn for recruits immediately and in the future. Why would a school sign a coach only to have that coach continue to work for a competitor?

College football is a business. Do you think K-Mart would continue to pay an executive and let him/her work for them for several more weeks if that executive was going to work for Wal-Mart?
