If he doesn't feel like he can handle the expectations at AU we do not need his mediocre arse.... it will be a step back for him career wise but at least he will survive on 7-5 and 8-4 records where expectations are lesser

Damn! Yall are one delusional fan base! He has you at a spot where if you win you go to the SEC Championship and possibly the playoffs but say he is a mediocre! No wonder he wants out!

Replying to one poster as if he's the representative for a fanbase? Nice.

Yup and we have reached the SEC Championship game with every single coach since the game's inception.

Auburn made Gus, Gus didn't make Auburn. I give Gus an overall grade of B+ since he has been here. Can we find an "A list" coach? Who knows? But I can PROMISE you this: whoever replaces Gus (IF he leaves) will NEVER let the program slip as far down as Arkansas is right now because we would have fired a coach like Bert 2-3 years ago. We fired Chizik just 2 years after winning a Natty. We never just SETTLE. Hell, we can't afford to with the best college football program in CFB history in the same state. It's actually good for us.

Auburn was great before he got here.

Define great.

Great as in a phenomenal college, community, and fan base? I’ll give you that. The football program tho is a different story. T is very, very good, but I don’t know that it’s ever been “great”. Maybe we are taking about two different things tho

You all have finally figured out it was Gus who passed on you all the first go around.

I can respect you all have grown up a little, but you will always be one of the teams to never win the SEC.

I'm not sure who's saying that. I'm saying that if he chooses arKansas, it'll show that the pressure was too much. If he chooses to stay at Auburn, I hope he's successful for a long time.

Gus has had some inconsistencies and it's been painful to watch for some. I've always been of the mindset that if you hire a coordinator or a young HC, you've got to let him get some on-the-job education. Gus appears to be trending in a better direction.

If he leaves, I'd wish him luck and I'd pull for him except when he plays Auburn. I do think he's a good guy and he's run Auburn's program well.

It would be pretty funny.

Back when Bert got hired, Arky raved about how much better he was.

They definitely screamed they would never want Gus.

Now they have the kneepads out.

Groveling like a pig in swine before the butcher.

MY how the somewhat mighty have fallen off of their motorcycles.

BTW Gus would do really well at Arkansas--- it is sad to think of how many years you guys wasted because your pride got in your way.

Gus at Arkansas has the chance to be a real disaster... malzahns never had to build a program from the ground up... he was handed loaded teams at Ark St and Auburn. He deserves a ton of credit for the way he handled the 2013 team, but there’s no denying the talent was already in place.

The other major is issue will be the defense... essentially the entire current defense (coaches and players) is in place because of the program more so than the head coach. Steele’s brother works in the AD, and the DL and LB coaches are AU alumns. Also, the whole defense is made up of AL/GA/FL kids. Gus deserves credit for putting the pieces in place, but there’s some real concerns he’d be able to replicate it at Ark.
