Not to mention these guys beat the he__ out of their bodies every week. Cannabis is a healthy pain reliever, far better than opioids. I grew to hate it over time, and I walked away without a second thought. Can’t say that for my sister who chose opioids.

Two points.
First, it wouldn’t help prison overcrowding one bit. Nobody goes to state prison for possessing weed. Heck, Portugal legalized everything 20 years ago and their prison population is virtually unchanged,
Second, making weed legal still doesn’t make it NCAA approved. Even in states where it is legal popping a positive in an NCAA test still gets you a 6 game suspension and in the real world gets you fired if your job prohibits it.

Sometimes I think getting busted for pot is a racket for the defense lawyers. The DA charges them and the DA's defense lawyer buddies get paid to get them off or a reduced sentence. Follow the money. I've seen people get more time for possession of weed or selling weed than if they had murdered someone.
