My bad I didn’t realize you were on the search committee. I stand corrected. It’s already been said by multiple people that Napier came off as a prick and was never offered the job. Clark called Auburn and we never even had any serious conversations with him. Cristobal used us as leverage to get a raise and Brent Venables did what Brent Venables always does. He’ll be a career DC forever

Auburn assumes any coach can do what Gus did...history says that assumption is probably accurate.

Thanks for the lengthy explanation for AUs embarrassing coaching search. Napier was a prick? Sounds perfect for AU. Surprised you didn’t hire him

Far be it from me to take up for an LSU poster, but their last 3 hires have won Natties. Say what you want about it, and I think Ed will be run off inside 2-3 years, but Scoreboard trumps all.

I have absolutely no problem with your new coach doing what Aunt Gussie did. Check out the last 15 years. UGA owns AU and I don’t see that changing.

You got too big for your britches and got turned down by Clemsons DC, ULL’s head coach and a slew of other qualified candidates only to land on a mediocre coach that no one wants.

Meanwhile your gonna pay Gus 21 mil not to coach?

You did what you do best- fired a guy too quick and made a shitty hire.

The post above just goes to show that you can always count on this world to be as absolutely bone-headed stupid as possible.

We can always count on AU to make us laugh at the stupid things they do and say. Love it!

Falling behind?? AU would have to move up big time before they could be said to be falling behind.

Great point. AU's last 5 coaches all either won multiple conference championships, had an unbeaten season, or played for a NC. I believe Coach Harsin will be no different.

Just because he whipped LSU this year does not mean he is a good coach. His offense sucks dick and has been figured out by every decent DC in this league.

Well, Thai. That top 15 recruiting ranking must sound pretty good right now. I see that AU is 47th in the nation and 12 th in the SEC. looks like Coaches aren’t the only ones who don’t want anything to do with Auburn

Well, bless y’all, Aubie for making the decision. Because Gus always gave ‘Bama fans heartburn, and his unorthodox offensive play calling and back yard plays were in many ways kryptonite to Saban’s style.

You simplified our defense’s job whilst getting rid of a pretty good defensive coordinator to boot. It really doesn’t get much better.

So, as a ‘Bama fan, I am pretty excited by your hire.

My predictions are as such. The money people will be sore that they didn’t get their way. They will have a very negative eye cast towards Hairpin as well as the president and AD and will be waiting for the chance to get revenge.

The first year will be a throw away. “Just let him get settled in.” In year two there will be one or two “signature wins,” which, in hindsight, will be discovered to not be so “signature” after all. Still 0-2 against ‘Bama, but Hairpin gets a ridiculous raise and there is unfounded excitement that Auburn is going to be competing with Alabama and winning.

Year three will be “the year”, but Auburn’s record will be only okay and still no win over Alabama. The board, fully pissed, will get the website going and start activating the hangers on in the fan base. I will start hearing mid-level guys who own small businesses or who are VP’s at banks, etc. talking about how Tubbervi..., I mean, Chiz..., no, Gus...., correction, Hairpin, needs to go. The AD and the president will be quietly given non-disclosure agreements and let go to “pursue outside opportunities.” Still 0-3 against Saban.

Year four will coached on the scorching hot seat upon which pretty much every coach over the last 20 years has found himself at Auburn. After a 3 loss season to Georgia, Alabama and another to be determined team, Hairpin will take his payout into the sunset and Auburn will be paying another coaching mistress to sit at home and eat bon-bons all day.

Add to this is the fact that Saban will have won one or two more championships and he will be looking to retire soon. Auburn, hoping to snap up Saban’s replacement first, will fire Hairpin and try to hire a home run guy first. Rinse. Repeat.

So, in the end, Auburn, this Bud’s for you pal. You’ve earned our gratitude.

I will give you a history lesson.........

Auburn was leading the series before bear got there. Auburn/bama is tied since bear. In other words........it doesn't matter who is coaching Auburn. Our kids are not afraid of you. We win our fair share of IB's.

AU is not afraid of Bama? That’s strange considering how they rule your state. UGA owns AU too. The tigers are the Dawgs chew toy. A tasty little treat. The bitterness you read from their fans on these sports sites reflects the stress of living in Bamas and Georgia’s shadow is putting on these people. Guess we should pity them but they are way too obnoxious for that

Congrats on yet another season without a National Championship, queerbait. And your name is perfect because I suspect you’ve never set foot in Athens except for the occasional Saturday.
Remind me when the last UGA win over Bama was, smart guy.

Until this pandemic season I had not missed a home game in Athens since 1986. The last UGA win over Bama - and the greatest College football coach of all time - was during Sabans first year. I was there too. Thanks for proving my point so well. Poor AU. Always second best to Bama and Georgia.

Nope. I’m 100% behind this hire the more and more I hear and read about Harsin
