Shula's teams did always manage to keep things close, or at least score late to avoid total embarrassment. Lone real beatdown was the 27-3 loss at home to LSU in '03.

Yeah Shula wasn't good at all but he wasn't as terrible as everybody makes him out to be. Yes he was in over his head but his teams never got embarrassed.

Self inflicted wound. Auburn had to do an investigation. It leaked, rumors started not related to the investigation. (Losing record, 5 losses in a row, terrible recruiting, ahole to players, coaches, boosters, fans).

The rumors about Hars and his admin, who knows?, but it did not start the fire. Rumor was it is true, but they have an open relationship

Arrogance, incompetence, and racism not a good formula for success. Might work for a while in Boise, but not in the SEC. Throw in a little sexual harassment and maybe you don’t even have to pay the guarantee.

The investigation was to determine Auburn’s legal liability for the smear campaign launched by members of the board of trustees. That’s why the university was silent for a week+ The efforts were not focused on the coach.

DAMN. Auburn's BOT never learned their lesson? Back in '02-'03 SACS investigated Auburn and placed them on probation for a stint due to the BOT's heavy involvement in athletics. A smear campaign launched by your BOT against your coach gets into dangerous territory with the accrediting agency.

Harsin is Auburn's Curry.
If that's the case, he'll NEVER beat Alabama.

And I don't see a Derek Thomas on our roster right now.
