It's what Auburn does. Only the Texas schools have more interference from the outside. The boosters, whom don't all get along well, would rather sabatoge the coach to teach ole so and so over there a lesson than win. These guys in the trustee room have big egos and aren't used to losing. In their minds nobody is gonna tell them they are wrong. Especially another trustee member. Jimmy Rane will make sure you know he has money. The CEO of Apple will as well.

People think having these million dollar boosters/trustees is good. Phil Knight, Jimmy Rane, Tim Cook (who reportedly paid the entire Malzahn buyout out of his pocket) Monty Davis at A&M, Red McCombs...these guys are actually detremental to a program.

bama was in the same boat as us pre-Saban and they likely will be again when he’s gone.

I'm a huge Bammer and Harsin had me fist pumping him when he pulled that move.

Whoever AU hires absolutely has to address the lines on both sides first and then get a QB(s) to fit his system

This. Everyone pays attention to the QB and skill players, but it all starts at the line of scrimmage. A solid offensive line will make average skill players look outstanding. A bad offensive line will make outstanding skill players look pitiful.

Recruiting. They knew his philosophy would not work in modern day SEC (Especially when you play Bama, UGA, LSU every year). Maybe 15 years ago it works but Saban changed the game forever. They also knew that last years team had a chance to win 9/10 games and then you are stuck with the guy a minimum of 4 years.

It was a stroke of luck for the $ people at AU that Nix broke his foot in the State game. AU probably doesnt blow the huge lead to State, 14 point lead to USCe and a 10 point lead to Bama...then you have AU in SECCG in year 1??. It was close to happening

Harsin was never the coach that the boosters wanted. Allen Greene wanted to hire his guy, and his guy didn't win right away. So they got rid of Allen.

The only chance Harsin had was to go 10-2 in year 1 and that was just unlikely.

Well that's not true. Even if he finished 2021 like he did with Nix and Carlson injured, if he had been recruiting well (in the low teens) he'd have been ok. The arse-beating from Penn State certainly didn't help.
That doesn't even take into account the asst. coach losses and transfers.

Damn, you must have severe levels of brainwashing to still be pimping the shot.

From what little I've read it seems he was intentionally sabotaged.

Meh, sabotaged isn’t the right term. There has to be some documentation or claim for the official investigation to have happened.

Most likely someone spilled the beans on something, both sides postured up, and that was it.

Right now Harsin doesn’t have a leg to stand on. 2-6 record over the last 8 games. That’s all 100% him. Blown out at JHS. And giving tank 11 touches last week is all on him.

It is a QB league. Without a QB, you suck. Not just an Auburn issue.

When did Auburn football not have a quarterback issue?

DuBose lost to Arky 42-6 in '98, and 38-7 to VPI in the Music City Bowl later that year, and then the 21-0 beatdown at home vs Southern Miss in '00 that essentially ended his CFB career.

Thanks Freep. I remembered the Southern Miss game, and I figured there were some beatdowns I'd forgotten and I was running late for work this morning. But this is not me picking, it is me trying to grasp and relate to just how bad things are. And seems to me like they can't get much worse. Which is why I think they should just pull the trigger right now and go after a big name before anybody else.

Also, he didn't bench Nix. Nix got hurt and missed the last 3-4 games of the season.

I know that. I was talking about when he benched him earlier in the year. Nix was actually playing better after that. Lit a fire under him.
