Chizik 31- 14 overall record (BCS national championship, SEC championship, two minor bowl wins)

Tuberville 85-40 overall record (1 SEC Championship, Seven Bowl Wins, 5 western division titles, one undefeated season with no national championship)

I know most people from looking at this would probably choose Tuberville, but I remember after the 2010 season, every sports writer and college football fan saying what a great hire Gene Chizik was. He did bring y'all a national championship. Don't say Cam Newton did, because without Gene Chizik there would have been no Cam Newton. And Tuberville could only provide an SEC title, so what do say? If Tuberville suddenly became completely available, would you take him?

Not his fault. That '04 team was better than the '10 team.

Newton wasn't recruited he was hired to play. Right?

Auburn is the rare case that a national championship was detrimental to the big picture success of the program. I know most of y'all were quick to defend chizik when others said cam was the reason you won it in 2010.

What if mike shula signed tim tebow and went on to win a national title? Do you think alabama would have been better off now had that happened? NC's are great but in hindsight it appears that's the worst thing that could have happened to auburn. It has bought chizik enough time to steer the aircraft carrier directly into the side of a cliff (this exceeds "train wreck" at this point)

I think firing tubberville was the right decision for auburn to make. He had become lazy and complacent. If the administration has brains in their collective heads they will see that chizik is trying, he just isn't good enough to get the job done arse a head coach. AU needs to cut ties sooner rather than later or long term damage will be the result. Just my opinion

Disagree...only because chizik would suck this bad without a national championship and is likely only going to get 1 more year than if he'd gone 10-2 that year. Now if he's still with us in 3 years...i completely agree, but without a NC we'd be firing him this year instead of next year.

He may be fired if he's horrible next year, but if he's borderline, I think he'll get the benefit of the doubt because of the NC.

Auburn co-worker just read this over my shoulder. Her statement was Gene Chizik has stated that he didn't want Cam Newton, it was Looper who did. But without Chizik there would be no Curtis Looper.

Chizik didn't even want Cam, Luper and Malzahn had to convince him to take him.

Chizik is a step down from Tubbs, but I don't want Tubbs back either.

Tubbs can really coach kids up, be he couldn't recruit, and was overly loyal to certain players and coaches. I think the game has passed him by. He's OK now at Tech, but I don't think he'll ever have a team that's more than OK again.

Chizik is a great recruiter, but that doesn't mean shite if you can't get players to play. He's the ultimate CEO coach. And when you're a CEO coach, you can't hire Roof and Loeffler and expect to win.

The 2004 team coached by Tuberville would beat the 2010 team coached by Chizik.
