I'm just poking fun at Bama for claiming 1941, what the frick are you doing in an Auburn/Alabama thread? Did the gators even field a team back in '41? Weren't y'all still a girls school back then?

You seem to be obsessed with me.

That's because the SEC wasn't as highly thought of by voters in 2004 as they are in 2013.

yup and USC, OK, and a few others were the dream teams of that period. whats funny is many of the computer rankings still place the big 12 and pac 12 conferences as having better schedules than the SEC to this day

Why just Alabama though? Tennessee's claim to '67 is far more dubious than Alabama's claim to '41 is. It seems to me you have an unhealthy obsession with the Crimson Tide.

I agree with AU fans that Auburn got screwed in 2004. I don't know if they would have beat USC but I am damn sure they wouldn't have bent over and let USC go in dry the way OU did.....that was frickin' pathetioc and I believe AU could have won that game.

No, it didn't, the Houlgate awarded LSU the 2011 title.

Just no.

For some inexpilcable reason, the Houlegate did in fact select Bama...hence the claim.

I know...

And for some inexplicable reason the Houlagte, just as irrelevant as ever, awarded the 2011 title to LSU.

My understanding is that there has been some internal discussion at Bama regarding dropping this one.

I hope not, it just works to make Alabama look more foolish and petty.

I mean, just look at your screen name.

See...in regards to 2004, the only ones who were bitching about Auburn's exclusion BEFORE the game were Auburn fans. You have to remember...there were four teams that finished the season undefeated that year: Auburn, Oklahoma, Utah, and USC.

I remember the build up to the USC-OU game. Most commentators thought it would be one of the greatest games ever played. For a time in the first quarter it looked like it would be exactly that. It was a 7-7 ball game when that OU punt returner muffed the punt near the goal line. That mistake started an avalanche OU could not stop.

Like I said earlier, they were "the it teams" of that period. kind of like Bama last year, people were not going to put OSU ahead of them, just how it is/was

What's the matter, can't take a little ribbing?

Some of us really just don't give a shite about Tennessee. But at least they won the SEC that year.

Well the main difference in 2011 and 1941 is that there is now a championship game that decides the winner,,,.and in 2011 LSU was blown out of that game in the worst beatdown ever handed out in a championship bowl series match.....so that pretty much settles the argument over who was the 2011 champ.

Talk about getting the red arse.

Why do you think LSU should claim the 2011 title?

Do you think that might legitimize your claim to 1941?

Interesting.

I'm just wondering why you are even ribbing Alabama fans over a title claim from a season that occurred many years before the vast majority of posters on this message board were born.

Most of us don't give two shits about teams we don't cheer for either.

I don't know why you feel the need to bring up 1941 when:

1) I agree with you

and

2) I have no control on what titles we do or do not claim.

If you really have a problem with 1941, maybe you should call The University of Alabama Sports Information Department.

Here's their number:

(205) 348-3645

I am certain that is where this conversation is headed. It always does with LSU fans.

No...I don't need to try and legitimize that one. The last 3 out of 4 will do quite nicely.

This is unbelieveable.

So, really, you can't see the irony that the same syatem that awarded Alabama their bogus 1941 claim awarded LSU the 2011 title? Really? You find no coincidence/irony/humor in that?

And people think I'm the one who's butthurt?

Really?

Let me clue you in: HOULGATE

Bama, 1941 Houlgate champions!

LSU, 2011 Houlgate champions!
