Should have easily been 56-0 if we don't fumble on the 10 yard line going in to score with our 4th string running back in.

And if we would have kept our starters in the entire game, no doubt in anyone's mind Bama would have won by at least 77-0 and probably would have put up over 800 yards of offense.

Probably better to just lose your bowl game and claim a championship anyways.

Amirite?

What about claiming a national title when you aren't even allowed to play in a bowl game?

some people actually understand why Alabama and other teams rightfully claim national championships in years they lost their bowl game.

So what happened in 1941?

It's nice when people point out that the 2010 BCSNC is the only one certified by the NCAA to be done without improper benefits to players.

When are the investigations of the other winning schools going to be completed?

It is a bullshite claim.

The only one that Bama has that should be removed.

Bama has 14 legit titles

the "rose bowl titles" arent exactly completely legit, but that topic is for another thread that I am sure will happen a few times later this year

Oh, you know, 11 claimed titles sounded better than 10 so the SID put 1941 in there for good measure. If you were to take a poll amongst knowledgeable Alabama fans, I'm pretty sure you'd reach a consensus in that 1941 is a crappy excuse for a title claim.

I understand that Bama claims the '41 title on one sole award - the Houlgate System.

Yeah, and UT does the same exact thing for 67, but I don't see you getting butthurt over them.

Their main rival is not Tennessee.

I wasn't aware that the BCS was around in 41. That's news to me.

ctually, Bama best exemplifies the lil bro and insecure syndrome as they made their 6 retroactive title claims at the same time Pat Dye had put bama in its place and begun the arse whuppings. Bama knew AU was their daddy at that time and it was 5 years before bama even beat AU again. But the 6 retroactive titles made bama feel like less inferior so they ran with it.

Lulz....Dye was 6-6 against Bama over the course of his AU career....and he never won a championship during that time... while Bama did....that is hardly "domintaion"

and going by that same reasoning Alabama could claim 25.

It wasn't.

The Houlgate was.

Alabama claims the 1941 title because of the Houlgate system.

That would be like LSU claiming the 2011 MNC based on the exact same award.

Sorry you're too slow to see the humor.

Better luck next time.

UT's 67 is a lot worse because the AP and Coaches had already been around for awhile by then.

1967
Notre Dame (DuS)
Oklahoma (PS)
USC (AP, B(QPRS), BR, CFRA, Coaches, DeS, FN, FWAA, HAF, MGR, NCF, NFF, SR)
Tennessee (L)

Tennessee's national title claims are waaaaaaay worse than Alabama's. And Michigan's a way worse than Tennessee's. And Pitt's are worse than all of them.

But, funny thing, no one cares about those school's claims because they are all IRRELEVANT programs.

Actually...it wouldn't.

In 1941 there was no system recognized by the major conferences that awarded a national championship. The AP wasn't even as big then as it would be 10 years later.

In 2011...the BCS exists as a system agreed upon by all major conferences to award a national championship.
