I've pretty much given up trying to argue this point. But the "Bama bust" moniker couldn't be more undeserved.

You also tend to have more “busts” when you have more players drafted in the first round. That’s not necessarily a terrible thing. Generally speaking, it means you got the most out your players in college too.

To those people who like to call Alabama players busts in the NFL,

These people are looking for anything they can find to knock Bama on. I'm guessing the argument is "you may get the the league, but you'll underperform and not get the 2nd contract". I don't know.

Bama had more Pro Bowlers than any other school the past several years. They've had a few busts (Trent, Milliner, McClain), but they've had way more that have hit (Julio, Haha, Hightower, Ingram, Jackson, Kirkpatrick, Collins, etc).

Poor Lil bro got his feelings hurt because all of your 5 stars are busts.
Puppet is fine as long as Gus has Auburn in the CFP "conversation" every year.

You'll never get the old guy to admit Gus has a player development or roster management problem that he can't seem to overcome.

Puppet understands what Gus has done, even when the talent differential between them and Bama is so big. The fact that they beat Saban in 2 of the 6 games they played and had 630 yards against them in one of their loses, makes me wonder how maybe Saban is underachieving. Again, he was bailed out three times by a Committee of some sorts.

I remember being upset when Auburn stole this player from Florida. Not so upset anymore.

Montravius Adams (2013) - 3rd round pick

Carl Lawson (2013) - 4th round pick, injury plagued college career or would have been higher

Roc Thomas (2014) - transferred to Jacksonville State

Tre' Williams (2014) - Undrafted

Byron Cowart (2015) - transferred to JuCo/Maryland

Derrick Brown (2016) - stayed for senior year, will be a high draft pick

Calvin Ashley (2017) - transferred to TBD

Monty was solid. Carl was injured and the same for Tre. Can't control the injuries. Roc IMO if he'd of stayed would have gone on to get drafted from Auburn...he left when a better back beat him out who eventually left the team. Roc missed his shot. Brown speaks for himself. Coward and Ashley I suspect everyone can miss, but both of those hurt Auburn. Technically Ashley is TDB.

I don't understand why people can't give other schools their due. Just say it....admit it and move on.

We all fall for it, I think. It goes back to politics, lately.

If the Democrats are for it, then the Republicans have to come out against it. If the Republicans are for it, then the Democrats have to come out against it.

It doesn't matter if it is good, or bad, anymore. "If it ain't us, then I am agin it!"

Jesus if Auburn ever makes the Saban/Meyer type hire they will win multiple natties. Look at what they’ve done the past ten years with two mediocre coaches, all while sharing a state with the GOAT. They have to be the biggest sleeping giant in CFB

AU has a tradition of telling coaches how to run their programs. There's no way they'd ever let a Saban-type run their program.

Dabo would leave because constant oversight would make it completely "unfun"
Saban would leave because constant oversight would make it impossible to do things his way

They won't get another elite coach unless said coach happens to graduate from there.

I didn't realize all those years Gus was only losing to Bama and Saban.

And in fairness, how long has it been since any of us have had an elite coach. Bama has had it lucky with Bear and Saban. Florida with Urban and Spurrier....and that's about it, actually, that I can think of.

Nation wide?

Woody Hayes?
Switzer?
Jimmy Johnson?
Paterno?
Wilkerson?
Rockne?

All might have been. Some could be argued against. But, Elite are few and far between, or they would not be elite. The rest of us just hope we can find a coach to win a title a couple of times.
