Try a little paint and wash the streets every now and then and T-town might look new also.

To raise a family, Auburn >>> Tuscaloosa. To go to college (if you are a more social type): Tuscaloosa by a mile. I don't think anyone really disputes that do they? There's nothing overtly wrong with Auburn. It's quite pleasant, clean, and has good schools. It's just kind of soulless and bland.

Auburn doesn't have a "we like to keep our city clean" type of cleanliness. Auburn has a "none of this stuff has been here long enough to get dirty" type of cleanliness. There is a difference.

If you want cocaine, heroin, pills, whores and frat parties as an integral part of your college experience, then Tuscaloosa>>>Auburn.

If you are there to get an education, meet down-to-earth authentic people, and experience a campus with esprit de corps, Auburn >>>Tuscaloosa.

To each his or her own.

If you mean fewer drunk frat boys and "whew" girls, you are correct about how boring Auburn is to live.

Does every Auburn fan in existence spend large amounts of time in Tuscaloosa? They must, since they all claim to be experts. Son, the only thing you are an expert at is telling one dick from another using only your sense of taste.

Not many places to stop on I20/59 after leaving Birmingham heading West. Good place to take a piss.

Meh. I'll agree that Auburn students are generally more friendly and down to earth. The drug reputation at Alabama is vastly overblown though. Four years in an old row fraternity at Alabama and never saw anything worse than marijuana.

Yikes! Guess I struck a nerve. Rather than respond with equally absurd generalizations about Auburn I'll let you live in this fantasy land of which few people impartial people would agree with you on.

Auburn and exciting are two words I wouldn't have used together. It's like Starkville, but closer to ATL.

What is exciting in ttown? Arguing that AU is boring compared to TTown is like two lesbians arguing who has the bigger dick.

They must have thought you were a narc.

When I still had friends in Alabama frats just a couple years ago I could drive to Ttown and be nose deep in a line of cocaine in the amount of time it took me to walk inside, go upstairs, shut the door behind me, and set up the line.

This list is a joke... And I graduated from AU.
Mobile at 10 is an absolute joke. There is more history and 'things to do' in any 10 square miles of that city than anywhere else in the state. Birmingham at 5 is equally a joke.
And homewood actually made the list as a separate place?
Surprised the author didn't list the fictional town of 'greenbow' in the list since Forrest ran all over that bitch.

frick it, print the tshirts... I'll take what I can these days

Well, I would start with an actual music scene, which happens to be really important to me. Tuscaloosa is obviously not Athens (nothing else in the SEC compares) but Tuscaloosa has always enjoyed a real, vibrant, authentic music scene. Auburn on the other hand-just no. Then I would follow that up with a comparison of bars. Again, Auburn just really lacks in that area. I feel there are better restaurants (certainly more) in Tuscaloosa but I will admit this is the one area that I have the least experience in Auburn as we never did much fine dining when I was visiting friends. Again, that one is probably debatable. The Greek system at Alabama is much stronger than at Auburn (I'm not actually saying this is necessarily a good thing, it's just a fact). But when you put them all together (music, bars, culinary, and Greek) by every undergrad metric I can think of Tuscaloosa presents an infinitely more 'exciting' option socially.

Look man, this really isn't a big deal. I complimented Auburn in my first post, saying it was nice and that it would be a great place to raise a family. The items above are obviously not the social metrics most important to every person, but they are pretty much the standards in the SEC undergrad experience.

So your assessment of excitement is a place where you can get drunk, hear live music and meet sorority girls. You have to be that guy who stayed an undergraduate for 10 years.
