ESPN created a virtual golf league with the star power of Tiger and Rory and the SEC takes the backseat. Truly awful deal all around

I think you're forgetting what the E in ESPN stands for.
And there is a reason why E is first in the network's acronym.

Just goes to show no one gives a shite about these teams. I’d rather watch a filibuster on C-SPAN than tune into an Auburn-Tennessee basketball game
I’ve noticed that fans of schitt programs always say this. Wonder why.

I actually think the college game has recently surpassed the NBA in terms of watchability for me. I’ve always been more of an NBA guy but the game is terrible now. It’s two teams chucking up 75 3pt shots every night. At least the college game feels more well rounded. Also helps that Florida is so good and the Bulls are absolute pond scum.

Said the fan of a school which doesn’t belong in the SEC.

This isn’t hate. Really. But that style play the officials called was brutal. I was flipping back and forth between two other games. Sometimes I wondered what sport the Auburn Tennessee game was. A new basketball/rugby hybrid? Or am I that drunk? Or did somebody put an edible on the chartcuterie board? Anyway, that was a fricked up basketball game.

Well that's just dumb. The most viewers for a college football game was 35.6 million. The most viewers for a college basketball game was 35.1.
The most watched regular season college basketball game of the 2023-2024 season was 5.18 million for the Michigan St Arizona game in November of 2023. 35 college football regular season games in 2023 eclipsed that mark. The most watched college football regular season game of the 2023 season was Michigan/OSU at 19.07 million. Ohio St, by themselves, averaged more viewers per game in 2023, with Alabama just a touch behind.
Outside march madness, NCAA basketball just doesn't draw a lot of eyeballs.

I think I’m a typical/casual CBB viewer. I rarely watch regular season games… even if it was #1 vs #2 it doesn’t really do much for me other than something on TV in the background.
But right about the conference tournaments I start to watch and enjoy it. The tournament is great.
Ironically, IMO, the tournament is part of what makes the regular season so boring to me… even if it was #1 vs #2 in the regular season, it feels like there’s nothing on the line. It’s basically just a bunch of televised scrimmages in advance of the real season (the tournament)
Just my 2 cents on CBB in general. Best postseason in sports, probably one of the worst regular seasons in sports.
CBB is a good example of why College football needs to slow down and be careful on expanding the current playoff too far beyond 12 teams. I’m not sure exactly where “the line” is on number of teams, but there is definitely a line somewhere where you’ve taken too much away from the regular season.

That line has already been crossed IMO. I think it was somewhere between 4 and 6 teams
