If he has greater ambition, he’d better look elsewhere. No coach has left Auburn for a better job.

Tuberville... Once... 24yrs ago. Mainly due to the AD.
Rest have all been fired (Orgeron, Nutt, Cutcliffe etc..)
When Kiffin doesn't take the job and Aub is left with whatever 4th or 5th option they have can we dispense with the notion that Aub is some great job that everyone is scrambling for?

When was the last time an Auburn HC left on his own accord?

Why in the world would Kiffin go to Auburn?
Posted on 10/31/22 at 2:15 pm to DCTXLA
There is really no reason other than money for him to go to Auburn. I assume Ole Miss could match an offer from Auburn? Ole Miss fans? Is that the case?
I do believe Jimmy Sexton is about to get him a big extension at Ole Miss.
Kiffin has Ole Miss on the cusp of their 2nd straight 10 win season. That hasn't been done on the grove since Vaught.
I absolutely believe he is holding out for the Bama job. It's possible he'd go somewhere like OU I guess. But I still think he ends up at Bama even if he leaves Ole Miss before Saban retires.

I mean if we had to gauge it off of what Aub was paying Harsin then Ole Miss isn't concerned about Aub outbidding

Cohen is the master of the smoke screen so it won’t be anybody in the top 5

When is the last time another school wanted the HC at Auburn? lol
And Arkansas State wanting Malzahn doesn't count

That would be great. 2 other SEC fanbases would hate him making instant rivalry games. Ole miss and Tenny vs Kiff

Auburn is better than OM.
Recruiting against Alabama in state is extremely difficult for the few national recruits Bama high schools produce. It's not easy for any coach to recruit against Alabama and especially if the primary program is across state. It's probably the same for Lane to recruit against Bama at Ole Miss.

It tells you it's a great place to get a juicy contract and retire. It will rarely have more than regional impact

Kiffin is the 11th highest paid coach in college football at this time.

Cohen gets hired at Auburn, pays Kiffin 3 x what he's making at Ole Milss
Kiffin is the 11th highest paid coach in CFB. If he got paid 3x his salary, he would be earning $21,000,000/year.

What does that mean? Take the job and flush it down the toilet? He will then take the Alabama job when Nick retires.

That would be Shug Jordan in 1975. I kid you not.
Harsin - fired
Gus - fired
Chizik - fired
Tuberville - fired
Bowden - fired
Dye - "stepped down" due to poor play on the field and a significant NCAA investigation
Barfield - fired

But neither left for another HC job at another school.
I'm talking, when did an Auburn HC leave the Plains voluntarily?
