White folks (Americans) gotta go save them poor ignorant brown people. They need to make sure they get plenty of photos with those smiling kids so they can show all their friends how they "helped."

Not a curmudgeon at all. I just find the whole "mission" thing to be silly, and more than a little condescending and insulting to those missionaries are supposed to be helping.
