I've never posted on this board before but I often read the topics
I stole this from another board and thought it was interesting.
"Thought it would be interesting to see how each state ranked as far as the attendance goes when taking into account the respective state's population. I added up each states D-1 programs average attendance and then divided that number by the 2010 estimated population for each state. In other words (to a degree), what fraction of the population of any given state actually goes to games, or to stretch it even further...just how much does your state really love college football?
Here's the list..."

If UAB was worth a crap or if Auburn sold out all their games, we'd be number one.

Someone went to a lot of trouble to compile this. It's an interesting read.

I wonder how Nebraska can be #1, they only have 1 major program with a decent sized population.

there are a lot of good OM posters here, hopefully you'll be one of them.

Very interesting thread...This proves what I have always thought about Arkansas fans...We show up great per capita ...even in lean years and including WMS in the stats.

There is a slight problem with merely dividing the population of a stte by game attendance- it doesn't take into account the number of fans who drov in from other states to see the game. For some states, I woul think this would be significant (I'll bet alot of the attendees at a Notre Dame game do not live in Indiana)

Yeah I've been reading topics on this board for a couple of days and wanted to make my first topic something of substance and not look stupid with the same old bashing state and arkansas
