Why?

Lack of a passing game and ability to read defenses happened to Jalen Hurts.

#2— Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama

because of one half from an unprepared defense?

Always hate these list. How can the #2 QB be a guy who has never started a game before? I'm also sure Clemson's freshman qb is top 20 on that list, without even playing a single snap in college.

I think these are predictions, not rankings based on current stats. Having never started a game doesn’t preclude someone from being the second best quarterback in the country. Jamies Winston and Johnny Manziel were the best quarterbacks in the country during the seasons they took their first collegiate snap. Tua looked great all season long and then lead a comeback victory in the national title game capped off by a 40 yard touchdown pass dropped in a bucket. His ranking probably comes from actually watching him play. The way he throws a football and runs the football. It isn’t difficult to watch him do those things and deduct he’s one of the nations best. Not sure why playing in the second half instead of the first half all season is a degradation to his actual ability. And again, there’s probably some train of thought that coming from behind in the national title indicates he’s capable of starting and producing against Ole Miss and Tennessee

Lmao if you think Kirby and Georgia didn’t prepare for Tua. We didn’t reinvent the wheel in the second half, we just forced Georgia’s defense to defend the pass in addition to the run. Same offense executed better. Those kids have been defending both since peewee football. That is an interesting coping mechanism you’ve conjured up there though.

Yeah, I read the original link and a lot of those named qb were not even locks as starters.

vs FSU, LSU, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia

52/96 (54%)
5.54 YPA
118 YPG (at 4.5 games)

That's what happened

I would have to put Stidham #1, with Fitz and Lock 1b and 1c.

Tua has so much potential, but I'm not giving him much credit for one half.

Also, that is one of the most hilarious/saddest things ever about Grier. I mean, wow

Stopped reading there.

He's good, but he's not the best QB in the SEC, much less the country.

well i meant from the SEC.

I guess i'm evaluating from a pro standpoint, and he is the best pure passer from that standpoint. Tua may be, but I can't give it to him yet

He's being projected in the 1st round of the draft. Why is it a shock?

First of all, projections at this point is worthless.

Personally, I would say Lock is better than Stidham, especially considering the talent surrounding each player. Stidham has certainly had more to work with in that regard than Lock.

Auburn's recruiting rankings over the past 5 years:
9, 9, 7, 9, 14 (7th overall)

Missouri's:
40, 35, 27, 46, 48 (38th overall)

Simply put, I think Lock is better because before Lock was hurt he was averaging 311 ypg, 9.6 ypa, 31 TD, 9 INT (3.1 INT %)
Stidham in 2017 was 202 ypg, 8.7 ypa, 17 TD, 4 INT (1.2 INT %)
Aside from ball control (Stidham's completion % is higher), Lock looked to be the better passer with less talent surrounding him.
