What was 2012 ranked? I remember it being a down year; we missed on a good amount of guys

Yeah, that was that 14th ranking. Still ended up with a few studs out of that class, but it was ranked a little lower than the others. Even as low as it was for LSU standards, it was still good enough for 5th in the SEC.

He definitely looked overmatched this year. Seemed like a perfect hire. We'll see what year two looks like for him.

The media does not think too highly of Les as a coach.

Fine by me, his resume speaks for itself. how many coaches have averaged 10 wins a year? A handful.

To me 1, 2, 3 now is Meyer, Saban, Fisher

After that, crapshoot.

This. Who gives a shite where they rank him as long as he keeps winning games.

The whole "lucked into it" theme with him is getting tiresome though. Luck doesn't maintain an elite football program for 10 years.

What has Kevin Sumlin done to be ranked above either Freeze or Mullen?

In 7 years as a HC he's finished in the top 20 3x and have 3 years of double digit wins. He's averaging over 9 wins a year since joining the SEC.

So, you'll agree that Sumlin only being two spots behind Les, is a bigger farce than Sumlin being rated below Mullen and Freeze?

ETA: Not even mentioning Miles being behind Freeze and Mullen.

My favorite Athlon coaching list was 2012 when they had Miles at # 20 and Kiffin, Hoke and Mac Brown in top 10. Not kidding.

Athlon has been dissing Miles for years; nothing new.

These lists are so fricking unreliable and worthless. There are so many factors in play that it's not even apples to oranges, but apples to wildabeast tapeworms.

A coach at a huge, rich state school may suck donkey balls but the program carries him.
