fricking FBI!!!

This would have been much more entertaining during the offseason. No fricks given now unless UF gets wrap into this.

The NCAA won't do anything to anybody. They allowed this dark underbelly of the game to develop over decades and they know they are just as much ar fault as the men arrested today.

The fact that it may impact a lot of programs and be primarily focused on agents and apparel companies, not recruiting, is probably good for the programs named so far.

Probably the best thing for AU would be for this thing to rapidly expand across a huge number of cbb powers.

Except for that the fact that everybody knows recruiting and apparel companies are openly tied at the hip.

This is going to completely change recruiting rules in the next 3-5 years in regards to the summer circuit. All major basketball recruiting is done through the prism of apparel companies, most of it literally at events/leagues/tournaments sponsored, run and developed by apparel companies by players on teams loudly sponsored by apparel companies.

Yeah, but I don't think we have any facts like that as of now relating to AU.

So if that comes out for us, sure, it's bad. But the general scheme of AAU/apparel/recruiting impacts everyone, and if this goes down that path in a broader way, it probably dilutes the NCAA's interest in targeting specific program(s)

Agent/Financial adviser working with the FBI

I missed where the agent/financial adviser was working WITH the FBI. They must've had a ton on him and he rolled on people he was already doing dirt with. He can't have willingly started doing dirt for purposes of entrapment. A) that's illegal and B) it kills his career forever

I have to question how it can be focused on agents and apparel companies but not recruiting. Why else would assistant coaches be implicated in this unless it wasn't about recruiting?

I do think it's true that people have grown numb to this in NCAA basketball. Everyone knows what's going on.

Agree - for Auburn there doesn't appear to be anything having to do with it. Their issue is separate.

In the grand scheme of things, though, it is the major issue that will come out of this.

It's not entrapment for law enforcement to provide/create an opportunity for people to do illegal things. Entrapment requires much more. I'm sure Person's attorney is looking for a way to use that as a defense though.

So was this all sprung today? Person and the others had no warning I assume?

What a damned bombshell to have dropped on your desk.

So if we don't have the one and done rule, does this stuff really go on at such a high rate? All of the really high rated recruits just go pro and get paid anyway and colleges deal with the kids that aren't at such a high demand.

I've wondered how long it will be before the top players, the obvious 1-and-dones, start signing with smaller, minor programs and treat their 1 year of college like an extended training camp.

if I was a projected lottery pick, why go to big school and risk getting hurt? Go to Pepperdine, live on the beach and work out with the Lakers every day. Sign with Hawaii and spend the year looking at places to buy with your future millions
