Pretty sure aggies think they are still going to win 10 games without JFF.

They think this every year regardless of what they have coming back

It could be that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing and no downfall. Maybe this galvanizes the team as underdogs, and this is just the beginning of a kick arse season. Media bashed A&M all offseason last year so its familiar territory

it could, and I've seen it happen... but you gotta have a very strong group of senior leaders and coaches who can insulate and keep the distractions at a distance... the 'us against the world' mentality can work, but more times than not, those teams who experience off field distractions don't wind up winning championships.

I know it's cliched, but the lean times the Aggie football program has gone through in the past decade have fostered a culture of tight-knit teams. They really play for each other as much as anything--I got to see this up close and personal just a few short years ago when my brother was on the team.

Regardless of how it shakes out with Johnny, the team itself isn't going to abandon him or unravel. Just not how they do in Aggieland.

The team will be fine. Of that I'm 100% sure.

I assure you that when push comes to shove, if this argument is presented, it will be that Fitch was acting alone. It will be that JFF "has terminated his friendship with his friend and is deeply hurt by his taking advantage of him".

except JM did his part of the supposed agreement.

Long term, I think you're right. Short term, I've seen some Aggie panic in years past.Francione years were rough. I really like Sumlin, and I think the tradition of perserverance will win out.

Alabama is like that too, though. I am a firm believer that these things make people grow up. Sometimes you have to have it happen for long term success.

I was a student for a couple of those Fran years

For a school that lives and breathes football, it was like death.

Never said more than with other teams. Just relating my experiences with THIS particular football organization.

Nothing will come of this. Its just a story for the ones that hate A&M and JFF. They can't prove money changed hands and he will never even be suspended. Its not even going to hurt recruiting because its not tied to the school.

Doesn't mean he was aware of the exact agreement. He can still play the "I did not know this" card.

A Pandora's box was opened.

Gotcha...so just like every other team when there is adversity they bind together.

There is a reason why it's cliched.

I think certain teams have it more than others. Like, I don't really think of Florida as a persevering team. I think Auburn is one. Not USCw... Etc...

Hence, my saying it's cliched.

And my response was only to those intimating that his teammates would turn on him and stuff along those lines.

Not sure what you're driving at.

Jesus - I log out for a few days and the world crashes... The NCAA won't be able to do ANYTHING to rule JFF ineligible, and this is a conspiracy by several parties to make sure he doesn't play again.

My guess is that the "royalty" of college football are a little upset at all the press A&M has been getting, and will do whatever to take them down a peg or two.

How dare A&M be better than UT. How dare they beat Alabama. That JFF guy is a menace and needs to be taken care of. Hell, the team is already dealing with the death of Polo, and now this.

I'm going to laugh when the team comes out and kicks arse despite all the distractions. Ennis suspended, Raven and Everett pending suspension, Polo dies in car crash, and now JFF accused of something the NCAA could NEVER prove.

Screw them all...

LSU played pretty good after those knuckleheads got suspended a week before season start in 2011. Maybe A&M will circle the wagons and come out slugging.

I kinda think they will.

The worst part of this is that these things cannot be investigated privately and out of the spotlight.

I understand that. But, it is a shame.

Even if there is nothing to this, the damage, to some degree, is done.

This kid has been a bit of a clown...but, that does not mean he deserves "this" unless he actually did "this". It will be ugly for a long while no matter what. And, the final result will only be 'no evidence to suspend' (at best). No way to "clear" it.

I'll hope he plays, enjoy watching him, and cheer like hell for LSU to win be 3 touchdowns.
