This is significant because it means A&M doesn't believe he will be ruled ineligible, or at least doesn't know of any significant evidence that would lead to it. If they thought for sure he was going to be ruled ineligible, just allowing him to practice could bring penalties from the NCAA.

Negative. AJ Green practiced while he was still under NCAA investigation, and no extra penalties were levied against UGA. You just can't play in intercollegiate contests.

Kolton Houston has been practicing for the last 3 years while ineligible.

Oklahoma lost scholorships for a year a couple years back for letting a guy practice who was ruled ineligible at a later date.

They must have done something else (impeded the investigation, etc.)

That doesn't mean shite. Hell, Sumlin won't be able to talk with a sober Manziel until tomorrow at the earliest and nobody from the NCAA will be talking to A & M ...............just yet.

This is the kind of stuff that is horrible for college football.

Actually, it's only horrible for A & M. College football will survive.

Additionally, there's the "moving on" factor to consider. With 26 days until kickoff, any coach worth their salt who truly believed their QB was going to be ruled ineligible would move on, especially given that none of our backups have many reps (if any at all). They would need all the practice they could get.

Oklahoma's whole program wasn't going to fall apart if that guy was ineligible anyway though.

I really hope nothing comes of this. I want Manziel and A&M to be 100% when Alabama beats them.

Otherwise we'll just have another "If Colt doesn't get injured Bama loses big" situation on our hands.

How the reps in practice are split up will be more telling. If you see backups getting more 1st team reps, then A&M fans should be concerned.

Did you read the big article about him and his family recently? 'Autographs' is something he can beat his daddy at.

The more I hear Darren Rovell tweet and talk, the less worried I get. By his own admission, he knows of nobody who has ever seen money exchange hands and doesn't even know for sure how long the NCAA has been investigating.

It seems to me, based on the sheer lack of knowledge about the investigation itself, the NCAA could easily come out tomorrow and say there was one and it has already been settled. ESPN really jumped on this with apparently almost no information other than "The NCAA is/was investigating Manziel".
