Thanks for the link. I loved this:
"Hey, dips---," Nealy said, "when are you gonna delete Johnny's Twitter?"
I can't imagine what JFF's coach thought of Uncle Nate sitting down and talking with him at the table saying, "I'd love to work with you." Jake Spavital had to wonder WTF is this kid doing takling to me about my freakin QB? Talk about an odd moment.

Apples and oranges.
- Memphis investigated the matter and officially cleared him before he played a game despite an ongoing ETS investigation into his scores
- Rose was notified twice in writing of a violation concerning his SAT score and continued playing anyway
- Memphis was also found guilty of providing impermissible benefits in that case
The case seems rather arbitrary, I'll give you that, but it isn't really similar. Memphis investigated and cleared him. The NCAA feels it is reasonable that they should have caught it in their investigation as a 3rd party monitoring service was looking into it as well and eventually determined there to be wrongdoing.
It seems really silly that Memphis didn't pick up the phone and call the ETS before clearing Rose. Their tried to use the ignorance card. But this is a national monitoring service that has nothing to do with the NCAA. It's basic due diligence and virtually every school deals with them as they work with the NCAA clearinghouse. If they had taken that simple step they would have known that there was an ongoing investigation into Rose's testing. Them choosing not to do so was deemed a failure to monitor.

So anyone able to remember how many replies the ATPB thread had? I know this one isn't close yet but I'm thinking it might have potential to match it (not counting all the tin foil had folks who posted in it after it was anchored)

the more I read abut him the more I hate this Nate leech.

tmc94 is so naive he thinks Johnny was coerced into signing 999 consecutive items that were authenticated by one of the top autograph authenticators in the buisness.

I believe someone said that thread had something like 2,000 pages. So, there is a long way to go.
And today's news doesn't surprise me a bit. I've been saying Uncle Nate is an agent. As long as they get enough to be convinced that he solicited money for Johnny's Hancock, and that Johnny knew it - he's no longer an amateur athlete. Seems very obvious.

The kid may have indeed fricked up JM's college career. A damn shame that the Manziel's let one of JM's old high school friends, that's no more mature than JM at 20 yrs old, manage their son's PR.

so do we have any update on when and for how long Johnny Cash is going to be suspended? or when he will announce he isn't returning to Texas A&M this year?
sorry, been in meetings all morning.

NCAA doesn't have anything, which is why ESPN is doing the digging. Oh, and all these sources are the same ones, with even the CT broker originating from FL. The ONLY thing to worry about now is if they continue to drag it out past August 31...
In the past, A&M admin has been unwilling to take the risky road. That is why ESPN and company are urging A&M to take the high road - the NCAA can't do anything about it, and are calling on A&M's "honor" to do the NCAA's work for them.
For numerous reasons, various ESPN writers are taking this VERY personally but they better watch out. Daddy POS isn't the smartest cookie in the barrel, and he will do whatever he thinks is necessary to defend JFF's name.
Though I would argue that is a moot point now.

I wonder what that coach was thinking at the time?

man if I was Spavital I'd have told Nate to get his arse outta there.

Yeah, and I've thought all along that the talk of a 4- or 5-game suspension is missing that completely. If the NCAA declares him ineligible I think it will be forever. At the same time, though, with the evidence (at least that the general public knows about) I can't see any suspension at all.

say what? I have little doubt he's guilty as sin. I've never argued otherwise

That the kid was a dork looking for a job with the team? I've no idea, but that works for me.

I'm pretty sure he mixed up you and aggressor. Understandable, since we're all exactly the same. Oh wait...

I just checked the trademark application by Manziel and JMAN2. It files in two classes, athletic apparel and some for custom appearances. It claims that it has been used in commerce on both classes and submits a T-Shirt for the athletic apparel specimen. Isn't this what Greg Anthony got in trouble for back at UNLV--running an offseason T-shirt business? Did a rule change?

yeah, figure so. I generally try to ignore the accusation by association game played in here but he specifically called me out.
I've never argued Johnny is innocent because I've never believed him to be. I may be wrong but that's my opinion on the matter. I'm just saying the notion that the NCAA or A&M will act before there is sufficient evidence is naive. I'm also rather dubious about whether they will ever have sufficient evidence.
