Am I missing or something, or is it simply an assumption that the video was recorded in CT? Just because the broker is currently in CT, doesn't mean the signing took place there, does it?
and there's nothing saying it was a "secret" taping either. They often do that for verification/authentication. JFF may have been fully aware of the taping.

the fact that it would kill JFFs career at A&M doesnt change that ESPN buying this video wouldnt be any different than a news outlet buying video of a police shooting or something else salacious.
