An article I found interesting, about what universities can pay. LINK

I was just a walk on who never played and even I thought I was well taken care of. I didn't even get an off campus check. Plus I only lived 17 miles from campus so when we would get vacation stipends(we got paid $.50 a mile) I would get only $17. The guys who lived 500 miles away got $500 for vacation stipends and we would get these twice a season. It was capped at 600 miles though so if people lived 2,000 miles away they only got the value of a roundtrip plane ticket.

But between all the stipends and legal grants we got I thought I was taken care of. I'd work a job in the summer, save all that money and I'd be set for the year.

If they don't like it, play in Canada, play in Europe, sit at home and pay for training, rehab, nutritionist, coaching, etc... On your own. Then you will see how much the schools are spending/giving you besides an education.

Other than UT, ESPN has the most to gain I'd think by killing Manziel. If there's a sports story, the whole country tunes into ESPN and the Heisman winner getting kicked off the team would be a story to end all stories. ESPN will be bidding and bidding high I'd bet.

What are the odds now that JFF gets suspended?

Looks like 80-90% at the moment, but that could change I guess.

More like $1,400.00 to $1,600.00 a month.

I think Johnny will be fine. If he is suspended expect problems for a lot of people and Johnny will go the way of TM7.

As much as I hate to say this, we are probably just a short time away from an announcement that JFF has been dismissed from the team....

If this happens, we know exactly what Lightfoot, Franklin & White recommended to A&M. Like I said, protecting A&M's interests.

The Manziels won't like it, but A&M has to look out for the school first.

Everything is about ratings these days. With more and more people using digital media and such ESPN needs more eyeballs to justify their subscription fee to the cable/satellite providers. ESPN is the most expensive channel to carry for TV providers and they need to justify that as well as satisfy Disney with ad revenues.

Why do you think ESPN has switched to more of a TMZ style of reporting on sports rather than professional sports reporting? Because it appeals more to the low information idiot viewers that make up a larger percentage of our population now.

And yet ESPN refused to pay a dime to see the video, and ended up seeing it for free. I don't buy in to the conspiracy theories.

By this, I hope you mean he'll use the year to clean up his act and get ready for the combine.

anything in particular leading you to this assumption? or just self-speculation? not judging, just curious what would make you think/say that.

From an Administration pov, JFF was already handed a 1 year suspension. It was reduced. Sumlin and Hyman all looked to support him, despite previous troubles. JFF took zero heed of what was offered as advice. he said "frick you right in your goat lovin' arse ATM" and continued to behave as though he was some sort of above the law class of student. Doesn't take classes on campus. proceeds to embarrass Ags everywhere.

Then, this Breaks......

You tell me, if you were leading an inquiry with JFF, Uncle Nate, and Johnnys parents, Would you believe ANYTHING JFF, his parents, or Nate said to deny wrong doing????

It's time for the university to attempt to save face in debacle. Cut ties.

At this point, I think the lawfirm is involved more to protect A&M's interests than to protect Manziel's, maybe even including a lawsuit from the Manziels against A&M.

Yep. I said this yesterday. I think the law firm is protecting A&M's interests - and those may not be completely in line with the Manziels.

I'm not posting to Shane, but just in general.

We are likely witnessing the dissolution of the CFB player autograph market for these brokers. They are going to lose an entire vertical market in autographs because no player in their right mind would ever go near one.

Unless they were 20, an idiot, and needed/wanted some cash.

Julio had an escalade in HS

Actually, the Pell Grant is $500 a month...enough to easily afford any one of the many used Escalades for sale in Alabama right now on Craigslist.
