quote:And this isn't being held in a court of law. If JFF signed papers stating that he would cooperate with any NCAA investigations or something similar, then they don't have to subpoena anything. If he doesn't turn over what they ask for, he can be declared not eligible.
The NCAA doesn't have subpoena power.

He probably doesn't understand it. I'm looking at it this way: Cam probably should've been ruled ineligible, but he wasn't. That lightening bolt isn't going to strike twice, aka that ship (loophole) has sailed.
JFF and A&M is fricked.

They need to find some money in order for him to be fricked.

Actually, I don't think they even have to do that.
I think they would either need the money or nate making arrangements. Money would be the most probable as hopefully nate did the agreement arrangements off record(no email, hard copies, text, etc...)
I doubt the NCAA takes when he said he wasn't going to do it for free as guilt, they need something to corroborate

Or the testimony of multiple merch brokers as they contunue to come out of the woodwork.
Remember; they don't require hard evidence.

An athlete enrolled in a NCAA school has the obligation to comply with any/all requests for information re any investigation. Obviously, he cann't be compelled to give himself up, but by failing to cooperate he can get hit with a non compliance charge. And fwiw: both Herbie & Pollock said that they were surprised that JM did not immediately deny the allegations...if they are untrue. Both said that they would want to clear their names up asap if this happened to them. Making the subtle point they think JM is guilty as charged. Herbie also said that if this is true & JM is ruled inelgible, "alabama has a one game schedule, LSU." Noted also that bama would be, at the minimum, a 2 TD favorite against everybody but LSU.

Hell, I think all they have to do is determine that he lied to them at some point during the investigation and he's done.

(g) Enters into an agreement with an agent
Did He enter into an agreement with an agent?
12.02.1 Agent. An agent is any individual who, directly or indirectly:
(a) Represents or attempts to represent an individual for the purpose of marketing his or her athletics ability or reputation for financial gain; or
Cyde, you are reading it wrong. When you combine the definition with eligibility clause it specifically reads like this.
"JFF entered an agreement with Fitch for the purpose of marketing his athletic ability or reputation for financial gain."
It will be argued that if they, the NCAA, holds what you and NY are saying is true, then any person can take out another teams player by making claims. Not only that, if they rule in that manner then they open another pandora's box for people to make claims.
Example.. Cyde doesn't like the fact that MSU beats OSU. He decides to go and get some autographs of player "X" after building up an online presence and somewhat relationship with player "X". Now he blows the "whistle".
The language is still too broad. Your interpretation is too broad.

agreed, they need one or the other(money or negotiations). Only one guy is supposedly talking so far, right? do we even know if he is actually talking to the NCAA or just the media

So (regardless of bye week) do you think if A&M beats LSU in TS we will hear the "we were still tired from playing bama 14 days ago" excuse?
