LSU looks kinda small this year on the DL. I'm not saying they will not be good. It just seems like they always have several 300+ pound tackles that can run.
The same thing can be said for Alabama and MSU. Bama has 2 that go over 300 and MSU has 1.
Regardless of how good they will be, this is the first time I know of that Arkansas will have more meat on the DL than the other schools in the west.

You don't need huge tackles in CFB. The 1st step and ability to shed blockers are more important than having 5 more pounds of lard on your DT's frame.

I agree.
Traditionaly having the smallest DL in the SEC has done worlds of good for the Razorbacks

I agree, LSU is small in the DT tackle (in terms of what is usually seen in the SEC). That may lead to more speed and quicker backfield penetration, or it could lead to a rush defense that gets worn down faster.. We'll see.
you might be right but LSU has like 10 guys they will be rotating in and out of the game!!!!! LSU is Loaded at the DT position no worries here

We will do the same. Craig Sanders and Nosa Equae will alternate, Dee Ford and Corey Lemonier will alternate, Gabe Wright and Jeff Whitaker will alternate, and Ken Carter will rotate with a lot of others. Craig Sanders and Nosa Equae will also play the DT spot on passing downs so we will have an extreme amount of speed on the field. Also look out for LaDarius Owens. He was a LBer when he got to AU, but switched back to DE - where he was in High School. He's extremely fast for a guy weighing 250 pounds.

But that's not really the point. Those are NGs. In the 3-4 defense the DEs/DTs are most all near 300 pounds too.
Damion Square 6-3 290
Nick Gentry 6-1 295
Brandon Lewis 6-4 288
Quinton Dial 6-6 290
Ed Stinson 6-4 285
Darrington Sentiore 6-3 280
Chris Bonds 6-4 275
William Ming 6-3 280
Jeff Pagan 6-4 265
LaMichael Fanning 6-7 280
D.J. Pettway 6-2 280
Wilson Love 6-3 270
Not to mention the size of the Alabama's LBs. So size really isn't a problem with Alabama. So, I'm not sure what your point was.

Will any of those be able to stop Knile Davis from pounding it down your defenses throat in the 4th quarter again?
Posted on 7/16/11 at 4:36 pm to Hawgeye
your knile davis will not be on the field in the fourth because LSU RB Ware and ford will be pounding it down your throats!!!!!

Laugh all you want, Nevis was your best tackle last year and he is gone. You will have a solid rotation (since LA produces TONS of big, fast men who can actually pass tests every year...you get lots of DL prospects and have no excuse to do otherwise), but ours will be better. I gave you credit every where else, literally I said at the OTHER three levels of defense you will be better. You couldn't accept the honest compliment, you had to go ahead and point out that there is NO WAY you can be worse than the step sister Hogs at any defensive position.
Nevermind that LSU had one player on the pre-season second team offense and one on the third string offense then just a decent showing on the defensive side, they will be world beaters the likes of which we have never seen.
Going by the coaches list, it looks like you will have a very good secondary with a decent front seven. Exactly like I said before and pretty much like last year (and you lost your best players at DT, LB, CB). You will have a very good defense, but the pressure will be provided from back to front...where as ours will be from front to back. You will have a lot of coverage sacks and not many big plays. We will have a lot of three second sacks and a lot more big plays due to busted coverage. If you think your front four will be a whos-who of All-Americans, be prepared to be disappointed by years end.
