Too bad you missed the 70's and 80's.

Exactly. This was a rebuild job from the get-go. Pel's constant roster turn over has seen us with 20 guys go through the program in 5 years and only 2 players, both of which were in his first recruiting class, both of which were recruited by Stan Heath, stay for four years on the team.
We didn't have a Freshman-Senior this year, and possibly will not have one next year either. The talent Pel left behind were role players at best, it will take time for the situation to turn around as Mike can't cull all the dead weight at once due to the APR so we have to slowly process them one by one or wait for them to graduate to bring in better players.
Did not read.

You nailed it. It by no means began to decline until the NCAA crap.
This didn't help either ......

"Richardson frequently spoke out about the negative stereotypes that he and other black coaches faced. It came to a head in February 2002, when he spoke out against the administration at the University of Arkansas and its fans. He claimed that he was being mistreated because of his race, and challenged Athletic Director Frank Broyles to ruffled feathers by declaring "if they go ahead and pay me my money, they can take my job tomorrow.” [10] Shortly thereafter, Arkansas dismissed Richardson as head coach. In December 2002, Richardson filed a lawsuit against the University, the Board of Trustees, and the Razorback Foundation, citing a racially discriminatory environment. Coach Richardson's lawsuit was dismissed in July 2004. The Razorbacks have only made the NCAA Tournament three times since Richardson's departure, and have never gotten further than the second round."

Wikipedia crow?
Nolan lost his lawsuit, his claims were untrue.
Nolan has attended almost every home game the past two years and has attended several more over the past 5 years since Broyles retired, the lawsuit had to do more with those two than it did with the school and Nolan.
Nolan still lives in NWA, he never left here, even when he was coaching in Tulsa in the WNBA, he had a place to stay there during the season, but his home was here.

The fact that he said those things or the fact that there's a lot (or some) truth in it? Nolan knows where he was wrong in getting too involved with the BCA, etc., but he was getting a lot of flack from Broyles.
Both did things that hurt us. I have forgiven them both.
What didn't help was the hiring of Heath and Pel. I really didn't dislike either, but neither was the type of coach we needed to keep things going.

Nope.
Mizzou is like that band that had all solid tunes, but not one big hit to lure in a bunch of mainstreamers. We're still going strong unlike the one hit wonder bands who fall off the face of the earth.

One hit wonder bands? Mizzou basketball wouldn't even call into the category of great local bands.
In 106 years of basketball, Missouri has had an amazing....
25-20 win seasons
2-30 win seasons
27 seasons with 19 or more wins
22 conference seasons with 10 or more wins
14 conference titles
25 NCAA invites
6 Sweet Sixteens
4 Elite Eights
Zero Final Fours
Zero National Title Game
Zero National Titles
A whopping 1,553 all time wins
That's an average of 14.65 wins per year

I caught a little bit of Bo's show today, he had CM Newton on and Bo grilled Newton over the selection process. Newton almost hung up because he couldn't answer anything and literally couldn't explain any choice they made and how teams got in over Arkansas that hadn't beat anyone or played the ranked teams on the road like we did.
It was pretty hilarious. CM Newton has no honor.

2 of the SEC teams in the NIT, Arkansas spanked. Literally, whipped their arse.
Posted on 3/18/13 at 4:52 pm to Hawgeye
St. Johns lost 8 of their last 10 games.
Apparently he was talking about losing to Vandy in the SEC-T being the deal breaker, we lost by 3, Kentucky was blown out, Kentucky was blown out by 30 by Tennessee a week or so ago.
Kentucky gets the #1 over all seed.
Sounds Legit.

Do you think it had to do with the fact that the SEC only got 3 into the NCAAt, which meant there was a glut of SEC teams for the NIT and they felt it was just too many?

Possibly, but the SEC had four teams in the NIT last year.
It would not have been a stretch for Indiana State or St. Johns to be left out, Arkansas had a better resume than both.
ETA: He did mention the reason for Indiana St. to be in the NIT was they beat Ole Miss, St. John's was "they passed the eye test".
Not bitching.

I really enjoyed when Bo asked him about Indiana St. Newton's response was "They beat Ole Miss" to imply that we didn't so we weren't worthy. Bo responded Arkansas beat Florida and Mizzou, both are better than Ole Miss. (He could've thrown in that we beat UK and Robert Morris both too)

I didn't even know OU made the NCAAT until I was filling out my bracket earlier.
I thought SOB, another OOC tourney team we beat.
I hope we get matched up with Gonzaga and/or Syracuse in Maui, moreso Gonzaga just to play them since we played Cuse this year.
