I thought this thread from yesterday summed it up pretty well. LINK
On Pittman he is a solid hire. Some believe he is held in higher esteem than he should be, but I think most fans were pleased with him and the job he was doing. That said, that's why fans didn't want to see him go and to have to find someone to replace him.
On Chaney, he has the experience as an OC and the issue centers around his play calling, particularly in the second half, and his asserted lack of being able to develop and maximize the talent of the QB. That said, a good QB coach and other components of a good coaching staff might make up for any of his perceived shortcomings. All the pieces have to put in place and then only tine will tell.
With that caveat you seem to come out collectively fine with the hiring of the two. Of course there were going to be risks when the change was made at the top and you were going to have a lot of new faces going into next season but overall it seems the fans were ready to take the risks with hope of greater long term rewards.

Chaney has a history of making really odd calls at some of the worst times in games. From Tennessee, to Arkansas, to Pitt. Maybe he will learn from it, and not make those mistakes at Georgia, but I doubt it. Couple that with our O line not really living up to the hype of being the huge, dominant force they were expected to be, and losing Pittman just isn't the end of the world like our SEC brethren would like it to be, especially if hanging Chaney around our neck was what it took to keep him.

I've no ill will toward the Dawgs. As far as Pittman, you got a good Coach. I wish him and your team the best of luck. It's a business, no reason to act otherwise

Unless Georgia hires a QB coach they are screwed. Chaney is terrible at it. Prepare for 3 or 4 lost years on offense. Chaney negates Pittman.

I really cannot believe they hired Chaney. Was that really just to get our Oline coach? Nothing else makes sense. That guy was terrible. Why not call in Nutt to be qb coach while you're at it.

I think they are in talks with Nutt for that job. Would be a slam dunk hire compared to Chaney.

Seems like he's priming for an OC job. He wouldn't have that opportunity at Arkansas. Chaney might be a 1 and done and he looks to take over OC afterwards. You can't fault a guy for looking at the big picture. He has a chance of moving up at UGA. Doesn't have that chance at Arkansas.

More surprised than anything
Pittman is good but he never recruited a true tackle that started one game here and bb's lines at wisc were much better

Don't worry Hogs, this is the Dawgs shining moment: to gloat about staff additions.
Once the season starts and they see them actually coach the troll will be on the other foot.

Yep, I am still perplexed at decision to fire Richt.

So how does deciding to take another job that is actually probably a slight upgrade a negative slight on his integrity and character?
He refused to talk to his players after he decided he was leaving. I don't blame him for leaving if that is what he felt was best but at least be a man about it.

I can handle losing Pittman. Was he a good O-Line coach and recruiter? Yes he was.
But I also remember all the drive, and sometimes game, killing penalties and inability to pick up short yardage from this behemoth offensive line.
You expect the largest offensive line since dinosaurs lined up to be able to bulldoze people off the line and Arkansas was never able to do that on a consistent basis.
It was less "Hulk F*&K!" and more "Hulk manages."
Chaney is Chaney, I didn't like his play calling when he was our OC and I'm not sure he is the man for Georgia now. We play y'all once every 7 years or so. Its not a competitive thing.
I'm OK with losing Pittman. Especially if it means we don't have to take back Chaney.
I'm worried the Georgia fans, unless Chaney somehow turns over another leaf, will see my point when he goes full air raid after falling behind by one or starts throwing for it on 3rd and 1. Chaney does not handle half time adjustments well. I hope for Georgia's sake he has somehow learned this skill.
