Arkansas Fans: What overall grade would you give Bert as your coach?

The reason I ask this question is that he seems to be in awe of the overwhelming support he has received considering how difficult the rebuilding process has been since he arrived in Fayetteville.

When he left Wisconsin he was making 2.5m a year and had won 3 conference titles and had four seasons with 10+ wins.

He originally got 3.2m to coach the Hogs and got an extension to 4.25m after going 10-15 in his first two years and winning 2 SEC games.

His total record as of now is 16-19. (Curley Hallman was 12-21 his first 3 years at LSU)

His SEC record as of now is 6-16. (Curley Hallman was 7-17)
*For those who don't know, Curley Hallman is considered to be the worst LSU coach in the modern era .

SEC West record as of now is 5-12:
LSU-2-1
Ole Miss- 2-1
Auburn- 1-2
MSU- 0-2
aTm- 0-3
Bama- 0-3

OOC record as of now is 9-3 with losses to Rutgers, Toledo and Texas Tech.

What grade (A-F) would you give him for what he has accomplished so far?

That clearly shows that he's the best coach in the SEC West.

Not until Saban retires.

I'm not sure which specific points you think are the most important.

Thank you

I'd give him a B+. Bert came into a shitstorm when he arrived. We hit our low point those first 2 years even though the Hogs did manage to pummel Ole Miss and shutout LSU. This year came with high expectations and there were inexplicable losses at the beginning of the year. Bert kept it together and got us playing to the potential that only Hog fans knew we were capable of.

If the record was 9-1, as it should be, Bert would have an A of course.

He's in year 3. He took over a mess. We continue to start slow, but November turns into NovemBERT.

We need one or two more solid recruiting classes.

The SEC West is a lot different than when Curley coached, so at this point, I'd give him a B+.

I'm gonna say B and that's subject to change by end of season.

Things I like:
I'm liking the way he's building the team- as in type of players
Great improvement through out season
The team ALWAYS plays hard, there is no give up and normally they play pretty smart football
Love the type of game we play- hard nosed yet multidimensional offense

Thing I'm iffy on:
Why do we suck at beginning of seasons? We lose to the aggies for gods sake. Anyway, I'll accept injuries as the reason and brand new oc for this season. Next season we are going to have a new qb and I don't want to be in the position to have to make excuses then. So, in summary, I want to start out decent going forward.

I think he deserves a lot of credit for beating LSU (twice), OM and Texas
.
The question I have is should he receive more scrutiny for the less-than-stellar performance outside of those four games.

His record outside of those four games is abysmal. Am I wrong?

How long can he continue to muddle around with sub 10 win seasons and then salvage the season with big wins over LSU and/or Ole Miss?

Hugh is upset that a&m will never beat LSU and that they barely beat arkansas the last couple years and everyone knows it

his first season was abysmal, his team's have gotten better as he's gotten his own players in. I don't understand why you guys cling to the 0-8 thing like it has any bearing on current or future seasons.

Let this guy run your team for a year and see how long it takes you to get back to 10 win seasons.

As an outsider the main issue I see is his teams in the SEC get off to slow starts. Arkansas has actually looked pretty good lately, and really probably should have only 2 losses instead of 4 right now.
