First year head coach. This loss doesn't mean that much. Cal gotta be given time to implement his system. Arkansas fans are probably gonna be flamed by UK fans all year about it due to their hatred of Cal. But the fact is, this is not enough time for anything.

Illinois and Arkansas are pretty identical teams and I’ll admit I’m very disappointed in this team today. A loss would’ve been fine but we got smoked and looked like crap. Illini looked much better than they did against Alabama showing improvement. Cal should never have problems against a Brad underwood coached team.

Was browsing twitter and I had know idea how sensitive Kentucky fans were. I think they follow Arkansas closer than Arkansas fans do. Is it always like this or are they just bored on Thanksgiving?

I can answer this.

When Barnhart wouldn't let Cal stay, he had no choice but to go to Arkansas.

Kentucky was tired of his annual attempt to out talent the other teams only to lose 10 regular season games, many to obviously less talented teams. Doesn't seem to run any offensive schemes, coach defense or fundamentals.

We were glad to have the opportunity to have him leave.

Arkansas fans screamed at us that they stole our coach.

We all were wanting to see if he was going to do something different than what he did the last few years at UK. So far he isn't. It might change, it might not.

I only post because of how insufferable Arkansas fans were in April. This is wearing off quickly.

I think 100% of Kentucky fans would tell you we are happy he is at Arkansas. Best of luck with it.

Most casuals didn't pay attention and just saw that Arkansas was ranked 19 and Illinois was unranked. Anyone with a brain knew Illinois would cruise and Arky was overrated again.

I didn't want Cal and that was a John Tyson hire who has more money than sense.

End of the day the cal hire will be fine. It’s not going to destroy us and it likely puts us on a better path than what Muss had us on. This shite can’t happen though, these players suck.

Cal isn't the coach that Muss was and Muss was doing good until he slacked off his last two years.

Cal won't destroy Arkansas but he could certainly bring them back to the Mike Anderson years except with supposedly much better talent.

Key stat

Illinois made 55% of its shots in the first half, including 9 of 16 from 3-point range, while Arkansas was 0 for 7 from long distance and shot 44% overall. The Illini finished 15 of 31 from distance. Arkansas shot 5 of 17 beyond the arc.[quote]

A 30 point difference from 3 was a dagger. Every run we made was ended with a 3 pointer. I thought we played well under the circumstances but they played a heck of a game so hats off to them, they were the better team today.

This doesn’t end the season and this team will improve, we are used to this.

Good game Illinois.

Then you reply with

quote:

We were heading on a bad path with Muss and were honestly lucky there wasn’t drama with him. That was mostly squashed though when we hired cal. Cal will have our team better than what we are now and we will make the tournament each year. He needs to get his head out of his arse though and coach up this team because again, they suck. Also when you’re kissing muss arse all I could think about the other night when Auburn won Maui is how big of an embarrassment muss was when we were in Maui.

You will have top 5 talent almost every season, but will finish top 20. That’s good, but you will likely grow tired of failing to meet expectations every season. It’s just a matter of how many seasons it takes. Arkansas fans are relatively knowledgeable basketball fans. The bad or non existent offensive sets will bother you sooner rather than later.

Cal is 65 years old. I can't see him coaching past 70.

It is tough to beat a team that is that hot. I'll give you that.

We’ve done it to other teams in the past and had it done to us as well. People who never watch college basketball have no idea how that works.

But we are horrible from 3 right now so unless we improve it’s going to be a long year.

I'm absolutely baffled by Davis' inability to hit from 3. His worst 3pt shooting percentage since his freshman year. He's had good looks too.
