Absolutely false. The receiving team does not need to field the punt to have possession. The change of possession happens on the kick.
Stop doing mental gymnastics, your team was the beneficiary of a ref screw up. It happens. You're winning big regardless of it.

I don't give a shite, I'll take the bad call, real or fake rules whatever if my team gets the better end of it. Especially if my coach got everyone's panties in a wad while needling the refs for the call. Heck, it's the best thing Bert's done all year, IMO.

Other then Missouri no team deserves to have bad calls go their way more then we do.

Except there was a fumble and inadvertent whistle and a penalty.
So unless you know the rule addressing fumbles, inadvertent whistles, and penalties....you are just making assumptions.
