Aren’t SEC coaches required to undergo an annual health exam/physical?

I'm sure he was aware. Norm Macdonald had cancer for 10 years and told no one. The public is not entitled to your health records.

Heart conditions can sneak up on you. I can't remember her name (Maggie Dixon) but the coach for Army's women's basketball team was in her mid twenties and a former pro basketball player. She had a cardiac event and died.

Are you under the impression that going to the doctor once a year for a checkup prevents you from dying?

Highly doubt it's any type of conference requirement and I'm assuming
it's up to the school's health care providers.

I would think with salaries and guarantees through the roof that schools would be pretty concerned about protecting these huge investments especially with the schedule these guys put in during the season... horrendous hours, bad diets and not much exercise.

He’s an older man, seemingly carrying around a few extra pounds, in a high stress job…very definition of “at risk” for heart issues.

Once you hit 50, as a man, there is a good chance you’ve lived 2/3rds of your life or more.

God Bless Leach and his family

Jimmy Sexton would wipe his arse with any BMI clause in a coaching contract.

What makes you think he was not aware of his health? Do you expect these coaches to come out and say "Before we get to how the last game went, I just heard from my doctor that I need to cut down on my salt intake."

People make judgements and take risk with their health with almost everything they do. Sometimes it is for the good, sometimes for the bad.

He's just as invested as the schools.

The longer these guys stick around in good health the more money both will make.

A 61 year old man had a triple A. Not really something you predict.

Can't always predict a sudden event. Most likely had a big clot that blocked a major coronary artery.

I should have used this example but a 40 year old friend of mine, in otherwise excellent health, had a double bypass and nearly died. Thankfully she's recovered but these things can happen like a bolt out of the blue.

2017 my PCP referred me to a cardiologist after ordering bloodwork.

5 weeks later, heart cath revealed LAD blocked at 90%

It can happen quickly

I had a heart attack last year that came completely out of nowhere. Never any symptoms. I had just gotten blood work done & the doctor said everything looked good. Heart problems can come on very quickly.
