It's ghetto if you grew up out in the country. If you grew up in an actual city then it's kind of just laughable.

Wife and daughter stayed in a hotel near LSU campus one night and feared for their safety

MacFarland is pretty bad next to the interstate. Typical west side of city stuff.
And that's not close to campus, nor is it the west side of the city. (not that you're saying it is.)

The worst parts of Tuscaloosa is probably west of I-359/SR-69. And that's not close to campus.

Been there, done that.

Your fine within a few blocks of LSU as long as you don’t look someone in the eyes and are packing heat. Take care of those two things and you are good to go.

Lived down 69 3 years from '13-'16. HOA, nice house, good neighborhood and families. House was broke into. Couldn't believe it

Alberta City and nice areas do not go together.

That is like saying Holt has some nice areas.

That's not what I said, reading comprehension?

I said The Highlands is a nice neighborhood before you get to Alberta City which is true. Very nice in fact.

There aren't any hotels near campus. One on campus but nothing else closer than downtown or next to the Interstate near Acadian/Corporate...

About to undergo a major overhaul. Several projects planned by the DOT and the City.

Bama campus is beautiful but once you cross the railroad tracks into the west side it's very ghetto. The nicer off campus areas are on or near lake Tuscaloosa just north of town.
