Why did you dispose Richt to hire a guy named "Kirby."

I can speculate too and say we would've done much better under Richt. It's not a convincing argument either way.

A much more convincing argument could be made to claim we would have done about the same or worse if Richt stayed on:

1. You know how his average record from 2006-2015 was 9-4, which might happen this year.
2. That 4 losses often involved a blowout loss like we saw last week. UF 2008, UT 2009, SC 2012, UF 2015 were just as bad or worse.
3. We would still have no kicker.
4. Who knows who our 5th OL would be.
5. We would not have Maurice Smith, which would have likely made the UNC game a loss. Easily makes the team worse.
6. Eason likely plays less vs UNC and Mizzou, which could have cost us either game. Easily makes it harder to comeback down 10.
7. We would not have David Marshall. He has essentially replaced 3 other 2015 DL who we were counting on. Made a big sack. Thast a void that makes the team worse.
8. Richt's UGA did not finish ranked in both polls in 2006, 2009, 2010, 2013, or 2015. Thats 50% of the time.
9. Our WR's would still be less than stellar. They lack something upstairs, something beyond the reach of coaching.
10. Our mental makeup going into Ole Miss could have been worse under Richt had we lost one or both of the other games.

quote:

You guys are laying the entire responsibility for this season, and probably the next one or two after that, on Mark Richt and his players. I watched our games and saw plenty of evidence of bad coaching, scheme, playcalling.

The caliber of player on the squad is somewhat quantifiable, so its a good source. We knew we had issues all over our roster going into the season, and its playing out exactly that way. We weren't good in 2015 either, just fortunate we didnt play any QB's. The schemes he uses will work well with the players we need, and we dont have those players. Its that simple.

Kirby wants to coach - his instincts are to coach and make defensive calls realtime. That's what he should do instead of trying to be a CEO. That's not Kirby Smart. Running up and down the sidelines screaming and yelling riding the emotional waves of the game is Kirby Smart.

He does coach during the games, and he is a highly involved coach.

It's like people forget losing to UF 27-3 last year or having to go to overtime with Georgia Southern.

UF was inexcusable. Didn't even try to win, Faton Bauta? Seriously?

Imho this is the worst sec hire since John l Smith

I just sat down and watched the entire ole Miss Georgia game.

And this isn't a slight against ole Miss but if you watch the game, ole Miss didnt play THAT damn well. I mean. They played well make no mistske, but Georgia is really that bad. Noted won't win the sec rest bad. Like, take take UK by 2 touchdowns bad.

Quarterback who can't throw the ball 5 yards without air mailing it. No offensive line, secondary full of Stevie wonders children can't none of them see shi they just running around. Penalities. This is just not a good team. This is t even a bad team. This is a sad team

Thompson was the number one recruit in the country it's not bare.

9 wins ain't happening

The day I pick the Vols over anyone is a cold day in hell and Tennessee is going to make Georgia it's prison bitch on saturday

You can't tell UT dumbasses anything and expect it to stick. Football is an alien sport to the state of TN. Their fans don't know anything about it and were ready to farh Buutch three quarters into UF's meltdown Sat. Now he's a god again. Kirby is rebuilding and UGA fans are patient enough to let him do it. Most UGA fans have been exposed to enough football to know its a process, as opposed to Tennersee fans who think they would have a shot at a NC if they fielded a team of girls scouts. UT has been irrelevant for a number of years and will continue to be. Blue chip players just don't want to hear that ridiculous rocky top over and over.

So Greyson Lambert is all of a sudden going to change things when he's not and I know he isn't. That man is terrified every time he steps on the field. Eason doesn't have touch right now if he throws off his back foot and its too easy to get pressure on him to where he has to, its a mechanical issue. Truthfully he's not ready but they're stuck since Lambert is as bad as Tereshinski was.

And if you thought Richt didn't get blown out like that, you're flat out wrong. There hasn't been a final score as bad as that one for a while but oh yes his teams have been totally embarrassed in similar fashion.

Go watch Georgia at South Carolina from 2012.

Im gonna go with Mizzou fans at the moment. I've never seen them start so many threads about LSU. they want to beat LSU so bad and they realize this is probably their best shot.

You obviously have not watched enough LSU football. While Les could recruit he was a horrible game day coach. Penalties, time outs, delay of game, clock mgmt problems that was the norm while Les and Cam were here. Maybe he just kept Cam too long but we have struggled with in game fiasco's on a routine basis.

We might not move up but we are not gonna move down very far either. I would rather make a change and see if we can be competitive with the top of the SEC west again (the last 3 years we have not been).

Saban had a much worse team talent wise than Smart

Our OL was better than UGA's current OL. They might only have 1 guy on their OL that could start on the other Big 6 teams. Richt was a good coach but he left the cupboard bare on the OL...

Saban didn't have a team down by 45 points to a team that was 1-2.

A 1-2 team that was ranked with losses to 2 top 5 teams at the time they played...

Saban didn't almost lose to an FBS school. La. Monroe was bad, but not an FBS school.

Every loss Saban has is to an FBS team...La Monroe is an FBS school...

Last year, UGA laid an egg against Florida. They blew a big lead against UT. Got thrashed by Bama. Beat Georgia Southern in OT. Barely escaped shitty teams like Auburn and GA Tech. People have short memories. They also tend to forget that we were god awful in many of the same areas last year.

The “cupboard” isn’t bear but look at the 2013, we have no seniors on this team. Kirby will be fine, he is a machine in recruiting. Great players make great teams

Honestly I don't know what to expect fron UGA yet. They haven't looked good, but I feel like if they would wake up and realize their potential they could put up a fair fight against UT.

I think UGA could have done better than an unproven assistant and I am nearly certain that once hired, Smart could have done better than this O.C.

With the instate recruiting advantages, UGA and UF should consistently be among the top 3 programs in the SEC.

I am not nervous. I am concerned though. Kirby is a new coach and he has a lot to prove. He has to make a lot of big changes to our program too. I would say the largest and most important change is to our culture. Many of our players have played with a sense of entitlement and without any passion. This was the culture that Richt created and Kirby must now change.

We have a freshman QB who is learning to play in the toughest league in the US. What did you expect? He has to learn and he has to adjust to the speed of the college game. Our receivers are not helping Eason, nor is our O line and at times, neither is our coaching staff. Our coaching staff is new and learning too.

At this point, there are two things that concern me the most. Number one is I see the same lack of passion and intensity that I saw with the Richt led teams. Number two is the play of our defense. Kirby was a DC at the most dominant football team in the nation and yet our defense has been horrible. You have to balance the play of our defense with the fact that our O cannot sustain drives and keep our opponents O off the field but still, I expect more from our defense.

So, here is how I see it. Duh - we are not winning the East and I don't see us beating UT or UF. That does not mean I do not EXPECT to see improvement and intensity from our team. If I don't my disappointment will probably turn to anger. We are re-building. I am patient but I want to see improvement as we re-build. I would like to think that may of our fans understand that vs so many other fan bases in our league who are spoiled and entitled.

WTH happened? A few weeks ago the dawg fans were talking about UGA being the 2nd bests team in the SEC after beating UNC. They do it to themselves, and deserve all the dissapointment.
