Big X decides conference only schedule. Stankey is now looking at conference only.

To me, you either play football or you don’t. There isn’t a vaccine. You assume risk or you don’t.

It’s not like you will get the rona if you play bowling green but you won’t if you play penn state.

I get it’s about delaying the season. By the time football hits, it will be 6 months since the rona outbreak. So another three weeks is going to change it?

They aren’t going to conference only because of safety reasons. That’s just what they are saying.

This is a way to use the virus as an excuse to save a couple million dollars by not playing the G5 and FCS OOC Games. You can’t cancel those without cancelling all OOC games.

The SEC has schools in what? 9 states? What good does conference only do?

You have to realize that the ACC is also playing conference only games. Many sec teams are playing acc teams so those games will be cancelled. You can’t have some teams playing 10 games and some 11 and some 12

I realize that. My point is he is following the big x and Acc. Had he lead, he may not have been in that position where other conference are making the decision for him.

We are the richest, most powerful, and successful conference. We got there by being the leader. First for conference championship game. First to enter into a sec/ESPN contract for our network. The first to negotiate a national broadcast on cbs vs a regional broadcast.

Now we are following.

it allows the SEC to control protocol for mitigating COVID 19 outbreaks easier. They can manipulate the shedule easier. Not about safety and travel...simply about controlling the situation more easily.

We got so close to finally having a decent OOC game in Tiger Stadium.

This is going to cripple the atheistic departments of small schools. Schools like southeastern and northwestern state get a huge portion of their athletic budget from getting beat up in these $2m cupcake games.

We’re gonna see some small schools fold their football programs (the most expensive program at every school) and some may not ever restart them.

Sankey is not a leader. Never has been. He's basically a figurehead for a money making machinge. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence could do his job as well as him.

Sankey showed his poor leadership during hurricane gate
Wonder if his mantra that all sec games have to be played applies now

You don’t think they weren’t talking with the other conferences? The sec probably already knew this was gonna happen. It’s best. Bc if a team has too many players out, the game can easily be rescheduled!

They are losing money by not having those games.

Who you play has nothing to do with it. If the crowds are limited very much the per game revenues are limited. Therefore paying rent a teams will result in a very limited income for those games. I think LSU plays at least 3 rent a team.

if LSU has to pay Nicholls, Rice and UTSA $4mil-ish total to come play in front of an empty stadium, how is that beneficial, financially?

This is a financial decision. It keeps the money making games on the schedule and drops the money losing games. (with no fans in the stands, the cupcake games are not big tv revenue games and probably would lose money without the fans in the stadium.) Keeps the tv money coming for the conference games though.
