The last time they tried to talk to Wade he refused to talk and got a lawyer. You don’t want an employee like that. The Wade ship has sailed. Other coaches in Wade’s position and talked things out and were not fired.
Not going to happen. When he refused to come in and talked to the President and AD and hired a lawyer to handle the matter he cooked his goose and was doomed at LSU. The decision was made that he had to go and stay gone. No matter how good he might be you do not want an employee that does that. Getting Wade back is not going to happen without a complete change in and probably not then. So all this about getting Wade back is just so much ado about nothing.

I feel it is what they do in the 4 weeks of fall practice. Nearly all big time team install Tgeir running attack part of tge offense first and have some hard nosed criminations. You get injuries from that but you instill a feeling of the need for physical domination in the OL. LSU works more on the technical end and does not have those scrimmage, so the result is less aggressiveness in the OL and to a certain degree the DL. I don’t like injuries but I believe to win a NC you need the aggressiveness that comes from the hard nosed scrimmages.

The MSU transfer started 9 games and was better than mediocre so the backup is not without some experience. He just needs some integration into the system in spring practice and summer drills.
The important thing about a bowl game is you get to play it. It slows about 2 weeks of legal practice to develop players for the next year. Schools who don’t play a bowl game have a problem staying with bowl teams in player development. So be happy and enjoy it.
To think Charlie Mac called thar opening play. I have always been amazed about tgat.

ABS and ESPn getting ready for the GA-TN game. Want the 2 highest rated teams.
Good reason. There isn’t anyone like him.

re: We have to get Kaleb Jackson going.

Jackson is nowhere fast enough to run that toss play. He doesn’t get to the hole before the LB or safety who fills that hole. Williams is too slow also. Emery and Durham were fast enough. That’s why they were more successful. I wonder if that weight Jackson added hurt his speed.

But the main reason LSU has difficulties in running the ball is that other teams are denying us the run by 7-8 men in the box to make us one dimensional. That is why LSU is going to the longer pass plays like they did against Ole Miss. The longer pass patterns force safeties away from the LOS and force more 5 DB situations.

The game plan was to make Nuss and the O more aggressive. This was discussed by the TV commentators after the game. The effort was 2 fold. One was to go downfield more with passes rather than short and intermediate passes. The other was to get Nuss to run. They wanted him to run about 3 times. He actually run once but had several other opportunities. That didn’t work out too well. It needs work by Nuss.

Now that he has played a game and made the mistakes it will be a lot clearer. He can make adjustments. He was already making progress as witness his play in the 4th quarter and overtime.

Evidently LSU had supplied the commentators with data on length of passes in games. LSU has records back to 2011 on this. In the Ole Miss game LSU threw more long passes than any game since LSU has been keeping the records. They took Nuss out of his comfort zone, resulting in interceptions and a low completion percentage. They probably did not expect this bad of but it’s done. Now Nuss knows his mistakes and can work on them.

This is all in further development of the offense now that LSU is in the heart of the SEC schedule. Both Nuss running the bal and the longer passes will improve the running game. The longer passes will pull defenders out of the box (safeties) out if the box and force more defenders 5 DB situations. It will reduce the 7-8 man in the box most teams use against LSU.

Ole Miss is the #1 team in defense against the run in the country. They are not wet blankets.

IMO that is why they want Nuss to throw more deep passes. When he develops to do this plus run a few times himself for first downs that will pull the other teams away from 7-8 men in the box and permit a better running offense. They started his development to this in the Ole Miss game and it took him out of his comfort zone. But he knows he can do it and it will improve the entire offense significantly. That’s why BK said Nuss made more progress in development against ole Miss than any other game in his post game interview.
The commentators on TV said that the coaches wanted for Nuss to become more aggressive and throw the ball down field. They also wanted him to run with the football more. They evidently discussed this with the commentators during the week and gave them information on the number of different length passes (I believe there are 3) in games since such records were kept. At the end of the game they discussed this and said that.LSU threw more long passes this game against Ole Miss than they have ever thrown before. So in this and the running they definitely took Nuss out of his comfort zone. They had wanted him to run at least 3 times but he only ran once except for the sneak for a first down.

They want him to ramp up his game in these respects as they continue to develop the offense. IMO this as why BK said at the end of the game about he admired Nuss and he improved more in this game than any other he had played.

IMO of LSU players he is definite more like Kevin Faulk than others. He has speed, moves and breaks tackles and runs like he means it. (Hard)

Yes and I think Miller will be a bigger addition than everybody thinks. He is a top offensive player at all skills-
I remember Ole Miss coaches were highly POed when he selected LSU.
Ole MIss either 1958 or 1961.
