Pole position is the kiss of death for Alabama. On 11/9, alabama retakes it and keeps it through the iron bowl. After ohio state beats penn state and michigan, they take it. The gumps will be happy to not have it, believe me.

The number 1 spot is like a target on your back. If LSU can handle that pressure through the regular season then they deserve it. When was the last time they were number 1?

It's just the way it is and it will always be until either Nick Saban retires and the voodoo hex he had placed on LSU down in New Orleans on his way out of LSU and to Miami gets reversed, Tiger Stadium gets a protection circle of some of that Pearl River, iron-ore, St.Joe brick dust around it or LSU finally decides to start treating this like a normal game instead of trying to climb Mount Everest.
