Dabo is more suited for Clemson than Bama. I think his "player's coach" style works at a place like Clemson where you can "peak" at the right time and ride a certain players talent. He also has to be able to survive the disaster/embarrassing type loss, which will always follow him, and not a lot of SEC programs are like that. He doesn't seem like he can build a program to be successful with the grind of the SEC. The "next man up" and "no player is bigger than the program" attitude is what works in the SEC. Dabo seems like he has the ceiling of a Sumlin or a Freeze.

Like I posted in another thread:
Why would the best coach in college football willingly choose to go coach at a school he just beat the brakes off of in the NC just because it's his alma mater? Talk about downward trajectory career wise considering the dynasty he's fixing to build at Clemson.

You may get more Tide graduates and fans to heed the call if Sister Cousin does it.

He's got it made now. Easy conference, best path to playoffs, top rival sucks.

If he does leave, I think he will let someone else replace Saban. Then go. He's young.

I think anyone who thinks Dabo will still be a top candidate for the job when Saban retires is in denial. I'll hold off on the Dabo love fest until he proves he can win a playoff game without Watson

Danny Ford might disagree with you, after all, he did go undefeated when he won it all. Ohh yes, another Bama guy also!

I thought the same thing (50/50) until his post game comments last night and his interview with Reece on SC tonight.

He's proud to be from Bama. That doesn't translate into wanting to coach there and possibly ruining the relationship.

He's smart enough to know he's got an easy road to the playoff every year at Clemson.

BTW, why are Bammers are looking for their next coach already?

I am already laughing thinking of the melt when Dabo turns the merry band of cousin-frickers down after Saban retires/dies of a rage heart attack on sidelines.

Whoever follows saban will have a short stay in Tuscaloosa. That will be an impossible job because there will be no way to measure up. All that said, I hope he does.

I will put a 1,000 bet on it tonight. You up for that or did you lose you double wide and all savings under your mattress last night?

Mama hasn't called anybody worth a dump since Bear. You would be wise to leave Mama out of it.

There is almost no doubt in my mind that if Bama called him tonight that Saban retired he'd be on the way to the deep South.

However Miles turned down Michigan so dunno.

One thing for sure - it would be a heck of a culture shock as far as coaching styles go.

Dabo may have played at Bama. But if what I saw last night from his comments about winning because they love each other and his players hugging each other and crying with joy is an accurate indication of his style, the Bama fans used to Saban's process wouldn't know how to react.

Neither way is inherently right or wrong. Both have been shown to work. But it would be a huge change going from an extreme version of one to the other.
