Because if there was any sort of even pretend objectivity on here you would be gone for a nice vacation for posting racial slurs.

What a stupid hill for you racist tiger fans to die on. Go call some of your athletes spooks and see how they react. Post video please.

What is homophobic about that statement? If anything it shows concern for his life partner.

This is true, it is the first definition of the word from Merriam Webster, also describes it as a "specter" which is another cool word.

Meanwhile, Early is 17 meanings down in a slang dictionary trying to justify why the word makes him think of black people.

So real talk, is there like a certain time where this was used more prevalent or something?

I grew up in Mississippi in the late 90's, early 2000's and have never really heard any words used as racial slurs except 2 or 3 of the main, well known ones.

Of course I didn't really grow up in a trashy environment so I'm sure that helped.

I have legitimately never heard of this word being used in a racial way, my grandmother used it along with haint, booger, and such to refer to monsters or creeps or things along those lines.

Wow, so even in slang it doesn't even make the top 3?

Seems kind of obscure

I'm 46 and I've always known of it. I'm not sure when it was most prevalently used. But, I've always known it to be a racial slur.

I'd use that excuse too if I was caught being racist and trying to deflect.

Interesting, to me its always meant:

1. Obviously to scare someone

2. A spy or something

3. Like a monster

I legitimately have never heard of it in a racial sense. I apologize to Early for offending his sensibilities.
