At least when Missouri and A&M joined the conference each school received millions of dollars due to their addition.

And the SEC renegotiated with ESPN after the addition of those schools to get more money. Do you think SEC officials just forgot they were able to do that when Texas and Oklahoma joined?

No, the SEC obviously gave up the right to negotiate in exchange for Disney delivering Texas, the SEC's white whale for the last 40 years.

What a narcissist. The SEC's contract with ESPN had a pro rata expansion clause, not a Texas expansion clause. The SEC could have added anyone and gotten the same pro rata payments to cover the expansion. ESPN felt confident that the SEC wouldn't add anyone that would water down the product, and they weren't going to set themselves up for a tortious interference suit by trying to maneuver any specific school into the league.

As to the OP's complaint about Sankey being responsible for the difference, there are a lot of reasons that have nothing to do with Sankey. First, ever since signing a 15 year deal in 2008, the SEC has been doing ad hoc patch jobs, rather than setting themselves up to take all their rights to market at once. That was a mistake, but it predates Sankey and has everyone's fingerprints on it. Second, the Big Ten isn't sharing money equally, and if it were, the payouts would be pretty similar. Finally, the SEC is getting more money as we get deeper into the latest extension, while the Big Ten money is going to stay pretty steady through the remainder of their contract term.

So, while I do agree that there's a big step down from Mike Slive to Greg Sankey, it's not the commissioner who makes the ultimate decisions--its the member schools.

The most ridiculous aspect of all of this is that none of our schools are making any money from taking on you two charity cases.

Yep, brought in two welfare cases basically

At least A&M and Missouri added 10’s of millions to every single teams payout

You are aware they have some heavy hitting alumni, now if you said, Illinois or Rutgers, then your point is more obvious.

Mark Cuban and also their journalism school alumni have some very deep pockets. Men’s soccer alumni with international futbol roots who have legacy money from Europe also throw in a ton of cash to the AD

He was so sneaky that the other schools voted to do it.

OP didn't know this. Of course, the OP is an idiot.

Nope. A&M AD was blind sided at SEC media days that tu and ou were being added. Don't agree but A&M BOR decided to vote for it to avoid the embarrassment of being dissenters. It did build a fire under Aggie donors to upgrade the program. We have more NIL now and our recruiting in Georgia is going awesome!

The commissioner does not have the authority to unilaterally add teams. It had to approved by a vote of the current members.

Sankey wanted his precious longhorns and sold the conference out to get them. Terrible TV deal, terrible job all around. But his “precious” needed a life raft from the BXII.

He’s not good at his job.
