McGahee tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL on that hit, according to wikipedia. I'm interested to see how the extent of Lattimore's injury compares to that.

That's why I said that it looks like a dislocated knee.

I just hope he can come back from it. He is such a good kid. This really sucks.

According to Lou Holtz, yes... and he is a doctor.

I'd forgotten how bad that injury looked.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we hear some good news regarding Lattimore's injury.

I would think so, depending on how much damage there would be to the knee if it were a dislocated knee vs a tibial fx. If it is only a tibia fracture, depending on the type of fracture, it could be a much less serious injury. Ligament, cartilage, and meniscus rehabilitation is a very long process. If it is a fracture that doesn't require a plate or an ORIF it should heal much faster.

The tibia is the weight bearing bone in the lower leg, so he will be non weight bearing for a while.

I think a lot of carrer enders happen to players not good enough to try to come back, with a player as good as he is, I think all will be done by him and others to get back. Its gonnna be a hard long road though if even possible.

It looks like a dislocated knee. Possible tibial plateau fx along with it. Can you stomach a pic of it?

That's what I thought at first.

I hate to say it, but seeing the pic doesn't bother me. I'm an athletic trainer. I've seen injuries like this IRL. What's hard to stomach is the thought of something so bad happening to such a good kid.

I, only, post this in the interest of the medical discussion here and mean no disrespect. You can see the tibia shifted over on the femur. Prayers for this young man. I have been a fan of his and, really, wanted him at Bama. I have to admit, this old Ranger teared up seeing the replay and I promise you, I've seen a lot of trauma, both, in the military and my medical career. Somethings you can never get de-sensitized to, I guess.
