Hate to see a kid get hurt late in the game like that. It looked horrific at first but he didn't seem in that much pain as he was on the cart.

Hope he's ok.

I thought he blew out his knee, but it was a dislocated hip. Saban says he had it reduced and he is OK. I believe the complications are related to vascular or nerve damage. He will need to rehab the injury with ortho FU.

Thanks for the link.

Damn. That must have been painful as shite, but at least it sounds like the best case scenario all things considered.

Best of luck to him in his rehab and hope to see him healthy in Tiger Stadium in November.

Makes me cringe just thinking about it, hope there are no complications.

I consider CJ the best player on D.

I don't think there have been any updates since Tuesday, the one linked here.

I've dislocated my shoulder, but a dislocated hip sounds fricking awful. Popping your hip back into socket?

I cringed when I saw the tackle in the game. Hope he gets better.

I actually had the same injury when I was in high school playing football. I had to have surgery to clear out some bone fragments when part of the joint broke as it was dislocating. Popping it back into place was horrible.

I never got back down to my speed before the injury. Then again, I wasn't close to the athlete of these guys. The rehab wasn't bad. Lots of stretching and range of motion exercises.

I hope he comes back full strength. Regaining trust in the joint is the hardest part. I'm sure the trainers will ensure he will be ready for next fall.

You know or anyone know the danger of this happening again or further damage. Does the first injury make it more likely to have problems with it in the future?

Yeah how does this compare to Bo Jackson's hip issue? Didn't it start with a similar trauma to the joint?

It depends...

Did he have surgery? If so, there is a condition that can set in Avascular necrosis, it is what Bo Jackson got after his first surgery, that lead to needing a total hip replacement... and we know how that worked out for Bo.

If he did have any type fracture, bone fragments can tear up the cartilage in the joint. That can be hard to detect in a MRI.

I never had it pop out again, but my hip just never quite worked the same way. I tended to over compensate on my left side (dislocated the right side) which led to some back issues later on in life.

It looked terrible on TV. Almost like a horror movie. Could you see recovering from your injury 100% inside a couple of months if you were a superb athlete, 21 yrs old, and with great therapy? We are deep as hell at LB even losing the seniors but CJ is our best returning and most experienced LB. He needs to be 100% next year.

The poor guy dislocated his elbow against UF and then his hip in the BCSCG.

It all goes back to what they find in the MRI. I was in the hospital for two weeks after my surgery and on crutches for another 6 weeks. But that was 20 years ago and I wasnt anywhere near the athlete of these guys..

I would guess (worst case scenario) he would be held out for the spring and be ready for the fall.

Sounds better than I thought. Thanks.

If there is no cartilage, bone, or nerve damage (and they don't think there is as far as I know) he will be fine in a month or two.
