Peyton has too much money in the bank to come down to college and put up with the bs you have to put up with. I can't see it. No one would hire him as a head coach until he got some coordinator experience. More likely some kind of QB coach at the NFL level after he retires if he wants to stay in the NFL.

Great player but has zero coaching experience on resume. Usually when think of ex players that become great coaches, they were linemen or something. Spurrier is the exception, of course.

Great pro players rarely make great coaches. Johnny Majors and Steve Spurrier were legendary college football players but neither did anything of note in the pros. It's easier to coach up a player with lesser physical ability when you were one yourself. Peyton Manning would probably have as much success coaching football as Ted Williams did as a baseball manager. Williams was a hitting genius but he was just unable to do anything trying to coach up players with significantly less talent than himself.

I'll throw this your way, would you rank Terry Bradshaw or Ben Rothleisberger as better than Peyton?

No, I think Peyton is right up there with the greats of all time.

But he didn't seem to be very clutch in the playoffs when you consider how good the Colts were all those regular seasons. He had some great teams that had way to many one and dones. If Eli wins his second Super Bowl, you will start hearing some comparisons saying regular season performance doesn't mean nearly as much as playoff performance.

Exception to the rule and Harbaugh certainly wasn't a great NFL QB but merely a decent one.

Peyton was a better passer than Bradshaw. But Bradshaw was a better champion, because 4 > 1. Yep he had the steel curtain, but also had to not frick up.

I'm pretty sure Manning could have also won multiple super bowls with the Steel Curtain.

The fact that the Colts were such trash without him shows how good he was. Caldwell clearly sucks at coaching and Manning still managed to get to the Super Bowl with him in charge.

Then maybe the Colts should have drafted a bunch of defensive players instead of Peyton? Less sports center hype but more titles maybe.

Fwiw, it's not like Bradshaw was a nobody. He was a damn good QB at La. Tech who passed the ball.

11 Pro Bowls > 3

5 time First Team All-Pro > 1 Time First Team All-Pro

3 Time Second Team All-Pro > 1 Time Second Team All-Pro

4 Time League MVP > Zero Time League MVP

Peyton > Bradshaw

But who am I kidding, those are just individual accomplishments. It's all about the team stats when comparing individual players.

All regular season awards. Peyton is probably the best regular season QB ever. Either Peyton or Marino.

Exactly, NFL regular season means little. You can win the Super Bowl at 9-7, 8-8 or even 7-9 if you get a break. Whether you pass for 2,500 or 4,500 it doesn't matter. No ring and you're forgotten

Very dumb post. They lost multiple OL starters & 6 Defensive Starters before they got to Week 8, bro. They were decimated by injuries.

They also lost one of the best QB's in NFL History.

They were built as a fast-pass rushing defense that played Cover 2 and played with a lead. This was all designed around Peyton.

Showing off a complete lack of understanding of his offense, his impact, what happened there this year, & their defensive scheme as a franchise. May wanna stop posting for awhile.

I personally believe he'd be a excellent QB and/or OC coordinator.

I don't think he will and it is JMO and I could be wrong. But I think being a phenomenal individual football player requires a bit of narcissism and self centered obsession that is not quite compatible with coaching (when it is no longer about your performance)

You don't see very many people who are both great players and great coaches. Usually it is one or the other and often great players suck as coaches

Eli isn't even I'n the same conversation with Peyton. Look what happens to his team when e isn't there. Eli is slightly above average.
