I will be there. Have been to every SECCG we've played thus far, and have bene to every game against bama post-1995. Wouldn't miss it.

Gotcha, So that’s why buckhead was trying to succeed from the atl.

In a thread that has devolved into crime and danger, posting about Lenox mall definitely isn't helping Atlanta's case.

Getting harassed to buy water at the corner of Peachtree/Lenox is truly one of best new city traditions.

I liked the old Ga done much better but hey.

Me too and it ain't close. The Georgia Dome may have been the best football venue ever built. Mercedes is nice enough but it is almost soul less and there is so much going on between the club and upper level and the damned ring at the top of the stadium it is hard to focus on the field...your eyes are constantly drawn to the flashing lights.

Buckhead had its heyday in the 80's and 90's. Not really a reason to go there either but if given the choice I would rather stay there than in Downtown for a weekend.

And that's on the tame side! Right before we left Brookhaven my wife wanted to go to Lenox (solo) for something and I flat out refused. I think there were like 4 shootings within the prior 6 months.

It's a shame because that area used to be SO nice and now is just a total waste.

There is literally no reason to stay or even visit downtown Atlanta. Much more to see and do in Midtown, West Midtown, Eastside Beltline, or even Buckhead.

Other than the convenience of being walking distance to the dome or Phillips or the WCC I would agree. The area around Mercedes and Phillips has PLENTY of bars and restaurants and many of them are VERY good, the problem is that anyone who is scared Buckhead is going to be fricking TERRIFIED in those places. They are perfectly safe and the neighborhood is also for the most part...but the are is a little less sanitized than most of Atlanta. You could eat at a different restaurant every night and it would take a couple of lifetimes to get to them all.

Thank you sir. I know I'm just out of diapers according to you but believe it or not I have been to my fair share of games.

Queue the people who have never left the state of Alabama, except to go to Disney World that one time, who think that Atlanta is a shite hole and Atlanta is dangerous.

I live in Peachtree City, bro and was born and raised in Georgia. Atlanta is a shithole and is extremely dangerous.

Data doesn't lie. Why are you so pressed about it? Even Atlantans will tell you it's bad. You can have state pride and still admit Atlanta is dangerous.

I served two tours in Afghanistan and would rather live there than ATL.

Ray Lewis killed Buckhead (no pun intended). The murder led to the new rules about the bars with led to the death of Buckhead Village with led to the death of East Andrews.

On the flip side, Midtown is pretty damn nice and expansive now.

Used to, not any more. Cost too much and I am umpiring a 2 day girls fast pitch tournament. 22 games in two days plus all expenses. Not passing up that for any game.

Me three. New dome is meh. And the narrow exiting concourses is an inexcusable design flaw.

It's "better" from a crime perspective because it got so bad (especially right after COVID) that Kemp basically told the city to figure it out or he would, and the Buckhead City effort also pushed the envelope.

We don't ever go to Phipps or Lenox anymore (mainly because malls are the worst), but we do go to the Dicks and Target down there decently often.

And may or may not be keeping regular hours LOL. I have been a couple of times in the last 3 years during what should have been open times and they were closed up tighter than Dicks hatband. Mostly tourists now because they are prone to irregular hours and their prices are outrageous for what it is. Still very good though for unique fast food....

No, Buckhead has been trying to "secede" from Atlanta since the 1960s because the people in Buckhead want to be like the rest of metro Atlanta and enjoy the fruits of being close to Atlanta but not pay any of the bills it costs to keep Atlanta, and the entire metro area including Buckhead and Sandy Springs, functional. Amazingly enough it started in earnest about the time the civil rights act of 1964 became a thing.
