The "B" sports = The ones worth 60 points instead of 20 points
Football, Basketball, Baseball = fine with all of these
Outdoor Track & Field = acceptable, especially with Arkansas, LSU, and now Texas A&M in the SEC
Soccer = acceptable, not an SEC thing, but enough conferences play it
Lacrosse = Except for the ACC and Syracuse - who is about to join the ACC - Who plays this?
Besides giving the ACC a "participation ribbon" and the free points, why is Lacrosse 60 points, and not just 20 points like Golf and Tennis?
In the current Top 10 for the Men's Capitol One Cup
Kentucky has points for the Men's Basketball and Rifle
Alabama has points for the Men's Football
LSU has points for Men's Football and Indoor Track & Field
All that could be surpassed by the Tar Heels doing well in soccer and lacrosse!
EDIT : apology for post on wrong booard, already requested admins to move to SEC Rant

UNC pays refs and capitol one to set up a system that is to their advantage.
Down with UNC
eta: Pretty sure most ACC schools dont have lacrosse teams btw. DOn't think we have one.
It is the A10, some random small schools, UVA, Maryland, UNC, Cuse, and Duke

Every time I take a look at the standings I wonder why Lax is worth 60 points. Doesn't make sense to me.

It's just such a big deal in the Northeast. In a lot of places, it's a much bigger deal than hockey, which is a much bigger deal than football. Having spent a lot of time up there, I can see why it's got 60 points.

Post the standings, UF won the indor champs in T&F. Sec looks like it will win in baseball. I want UF to have a mens soccer team, there is alot of talent in SEC country for soccer. I am sure SEC would compete with any school for soccer championships

lax is for the people who could not stay on two feet while trying to skate. its a shitty version of hockey.. and hockey is only so good itself.

Soccer is okay, at least most conferences play it. My beef was giving 60 points to a sport only a few schools play, and most major conferences do not even have a team. Hell, give Ice Hockey 60 points before giving Lacrosse 60 points!
Here is the most up to date standings - 20 or more points :
1. North Carolina 75
2. Kentucky 66
3. Alabama - North Dakota State 60
5. Oklahoma State 47
6. Ohio State 46.5
7. LSU - UCLA 42
9. Louisville 38
10. Stanford 36.5
11. Kansas - Sam Houston State - Charlotte 36
14. Arkansas - Cal - Georgia Southern 30
17. Florida 29
18. Creighton - Montana - Oregon - USC 24
22. Penn State 23
23. Boston College - Minnesota - Wisconsin 20

60 points is absured to have for that sport. I think there needs to be a rule where XX number of DI schools have to perticipate to get 60 points. If 20 school participate in LX then they should only get 20 points, or be weighted of # of participating schools.
WTF they lead it because of winning lx, thats bullship

there are 61 Div 1 lax teams so they have met your arbitrary threshold

Lacrosse is popular along the eastern seaboard, I would bet that % of kids playing lacrosse in Philadelphia is triple what it would be 5 hours away in Pittsburgh
Other than way north along the Great Lakes where it is cold enough for ponds to freeze youth hockey is a cost prohibitive sport

It's pretty popular in places like Ohio too, no? Doesn't the Big 10 have an active Lacrosse following?

There's a few sports GT doesn't do that you'd expect, like soccer. No lacrosse either (LIGAF)

Understood the sport has a growing popularity, however witnessing youth lacrosse along the I-95 corridor is unreal it's popularity is much bigger than little league baseball
I went to PSU before we joined the Big Ten, I am not too familar with the mid western culture.

Nevermind, didnt know they had that many.
I know UF has women LX but what other sec is planning of adding LX to their AD?
Are we restricted by title 9 to not add mens LX?
Posted on 4/15/12 at 3:55 pm to Gatoreng5
Vandy has one, and USC was supposed to add one but I think there were funding issues.

Yeah... Lacrosse and Hockey in that area are like PeeWee football down here. I have a bunch of friends from high school who played, most stayed in the Northeast/MidAtlantic, but a few went to places in Ohio and California and played in college.
I think the cup has to give people from all regions the ability to compete. They can't just do sports everyone plays if the competitive advantage is in one part of the country. Especially if their best athletes play something else and it's part of the culture.

The rinks carry alot of overhead, raising liabilty insurance has turned youth hockey into very costly sport to play, there are less places to play hockey today than there was 30 years ago in a place like Philadelphia were the frozen ponds are not safe to skate other than a couple weeks in mid-winter.

How many of those teams are in :
ACC
Big E
BXII
B1G
PAC
SEC
I am not debating women's Lacrosse, just men's Lacrosse
