Sources: LSU defensive backs coach Corey Raymond has turned down a job offer from Texas A&M.

A&M had been targeting him for the opening on its staff created by cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist leaving for a job with the Dallas Cowboys.

Why would they think he'd laterally transfer?

Wow, they really thought they had a shot at hiring him away from LSU? What a bunch of losers.

I find that hard to believe. Raymond was interested 2 years ago and we turned him down. Seems unlikely that Jimbo would all of a sudden want him.

I can relate. Had a shot at Eva Green circa 2006 and I had to turn her down as well

Wow Aggie fans must feel like total chumps right now ... I mean even more than usual.

Trying to get Corey Raymond to switch from his Alma Mater to a program that is on the verge of a dumpster fire.

Jimbo must be beside himself knowing that he has zero chance ever to win the SEC west.

Reported yesterday.

Maybe he was considered. Doesn’t hurt to kick the tires.

quote:

Raymond would obviously be a target...especially since he came so close to leaving the last time around (he actually sought the job out). However, he's highly unlikely to leave LSU. The Aranda move probably makes it next to impossible since the LSU DC job is now open (he won't get it) and since he and Aranda never really saw eye-to-eye. In fact, when Dave made his own run at A&M two years ago, he used that leverage to ensure that Ed O would let him add a safeties coach to the defensive staff because he wasn't comfortable with Raymond running the entire secondary. So, no, he isn't holding out for anything at Baylor but he's also an LSU lifer it would appear.
