You really believe we will drop the NC State game on a neutral field this year?
Not happening. Vols typicality dominate high ranking ACC competition like it's nothing.
You guys still haven't figured out just how much better the SEC really is than the rest of the conferences it seems.

Something I wonder is if us playing an actual competitive opponent prior to playing you will help or hurt us?
Helps, imo, provided we come out of it relatively healthy.

10 games vs the ACC over the last 20 years. Utk is 6-4.
Utk is 1-3 in bowl games vs the ACC during that time. 2-1 in OT games.
Of the opponents, likely Pitt and Clemson were the best ACC teams faced. Utk is 2-2 in those games including an OT win vs Pitt.
They did beat the shite out of Clemson though in the most recent Orange Bowl, 31-14. But, that Clemson team also lost 35-14 to ND earlier that year.
Overall, yes, UT has a great record vs the ACC. But, it's not necessarily been dominating in recent history (2020s: 3-1; outscored ACC opponents an avg of 35 to 25 ppg; 2010s: 3-1 with UT outscored by the ACC an avg of 32 to 34 ppg; 2000s: 1-3 with a 19.2 avg ppg tie for and against vs ACC teams.
All that said, I think UT beats the shite out of NCSU. And, I think a quality opponent before a big game is helpful for the them.

I'd question it's utility at the time of the original quote.

It's actually very inaccurate.

It’s a good thing you let us know. I can’t believe no one has mentioned it before.

No OU fan is saying our OL isn't suspect. Hell, we're saying it's our weak link going into this season. Hopefully Coach B gets it figured out. But I'm not worried about Tennessee...
But you should be worried about when OU play Mizzou.

Has anyone pointed out that "anonymous sources" usually turn out to be voices in the head of the article writer? No idea if the gooners O-line will be worth a damn, but "anonymous" doesn't move the needle either way

the the sooner’s are going to beat the ever living shite out of Tennessee. The (Sooner) you can accept it , no pun intended, better off you will be lol
Regardless they do or not, it won’t be a beat down like the Vols put on LSU last time.

Coaches give their opinions anonymously all the time. Opposing coaches have really taken note of us recently because of Heupel and the top notch culture that they see him building in Knoxville.

It’s reason for concern but not panic. Idk how many times we’ve entered a season with the same o-line questions, and yet somehow they figure everything out. Free agency certainly helps with the learning curve. How does the final product look is anyone’s guess, but it’s not like they’re working from scratch with unproven talent.
